I suffered no delusions, but a clear signal was sent today in Washington.

With Pelosi re-elected as speaker, there will be no accountability of the Bush administration pursued. It is to all be forgotten.

They let Johnson walk, and Nixon, and Reagan, and Bush Sr., and all their little helper bees, too. Kissinger is free. So is Oliver North. Thus it will ever be. I'm surprised you got your hopes up.

Our government didn't get this corrupt overnight, we had to work at it.

Did you see this? I don't want to kick it, but, man. It's to the point where I can't blame anyone for picking these people -- there's so damn many of them all over the place.

I didn't have the expectation that the rottenness would just vanish.

Like Will said, all of those guys walked. That means, all the people (or most of the people) who helped them also walked. And that means, all those people are the Experience Corps that new administrations use to staff their governments.

I guess I don't have buyer's remorse because mine wasn't a purchase as much as a rental.

at it's finest. :sarcasm: It's something that, as an American who pays attention, deep down, I know, and have known that these people always walk. Yet, I always hold out a little hope that they will recieve justice. Maybe it's having lived through Watergate and seen up close how the constitution can prevail that has kept a small sliver of hope alive all these years. I think we all have it to a degree, or we wouldn't be on this board.

I read a post earlier where somebody mentioned, if they're allowed to go unpunished again, our next Rethuglican president could very well make Hitler and Stalin look like rank amateurs by comparison.

I know hope is a hard thing to come by, but we can't give up. If we do, we doom ourselves to repeat the same mistakes over again and they're always worse the next time.

You don't see that every day. LOL big time. Though you are correct about the lemmings but it's such the apropos image of our "Representatives"-even if the lemmings are innocent the Democratic congress would follow the Republicans off the cliff with not a shred of principle left clinging to their shirking corpulence while thinking it would get them elected just one more time.

5. This is where President Obama can make a difference.
He can direct his Attorney General to look into the activities of the Bush Administration. If enough dirty deeds are found and publicized, it will be difficult for Pelosi to prevent anything from happening.

Obama's campaign told me his AG would look into the Bush Administration.

23. Well, considering the number of hawks and wall st supporters already
being named, the willingness to throw large groups of his own party to the side in an effort to make nice with the Repubs, things like more tax cuts for those who don't need them and little public regard lately for women's and LGBT rights - I'm not really surprised.

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed - sometimes it's much easier to keep cheerleading than to make an honest criticism.

But you know - if I was in Congress with an approval rating of the 12-14% range - I'd hope that I'd be smart enough to think "hmmm, this isn't what the people sent me here to do" and change my ways. Actually, if I was previously a Constitutional Law professor, I'd probably be thinking the same thing.

No matter who we vote for, it really doesn't seem to change very much at all. Sure, every vote counts so that this Senator gets the seat with all the perks vs that Senator - but I'm sure as hell not going to hold my breath hoping he's in that great, great minority that we've sent up the Hill that actually thinks he's there to do what's best for us - the progressives who gave money, time and effort to get him elected. Or just about any of the rest of them at this point.

Opposition.

She is an embarrassment that would have happily graced any medeival court. She is vile in the extreme, not because of who she is or what she believes, butthat she has utter contempt for those she rules, and I suspect a non-understanding of the US Constitution. What does it have to do with her, after all?

Am I surprised? No. sadly, no.

It really is beginning to look as if we are going to REALLY find out where we stand.

It is NOT that these people are "out-of-touch".

It IS that they just don't care about us.

I know the History books won't be kind to George Bush, but they will also have nothing good to say about the complicit "Opposition" Party. The Democrats will fare (historically) about as well as Neville Chamberlain or the Vichy French....

But it won't matter to them....safe in their Mansions and Gated Communities protected by private Police.....
Blackwater Home Security... for those who prefer their private police to NOT be accountable to US Law.

We CAN "Go Private!"
Despite perceptions, WE really do have The Power.

I will donate $500 to ANY organization that will place a Bounty on Bush/Cheney to be paid to anyone who provides evidence or sworn testimony that leads to their indictment or arrest.

A small, transparent trust located in a neutral country like Switzerland could administer the fund. If the BOUNTY is promoted internationally, it would quickly grow to Mega-Millions.

The fund would also be tasked with running full page Wanted For War Crimes ads in major Global newspapers every 3 months until the Bounty is awarded or depleted.

I believe that such a fund would be wildly popular worldwide, and provide the administrators an opportunity to make a little money.
I have neither the resources or skills to institute such a fund, but like I said above, I am willing to donate $500. I also believe that there are at least a million more worldwide (extreme minimum) who would also be willing to donate....that adds up to some serious money.

Wanted
for
WAR CRIMES

A $500 Million Dollar Reward will be paid to any individual, organization, or country that provides evidence or sworn testimony that leads to the arrest, or the issuance of an Internal Arrest Warrant for War Crimes committed by George Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, or Donald Rumsfeld.

It is clear that the Opposition Party (Democratic Party) and the US Justice Department will do NOTHING to hold the criminals accountable.
A private organization representing Citizens of the World would have better results.

Even if Bush/Cheney are never arrested, a Mega-Million Dollar International Bounty would certainly keep them looking over their shoulders, curtail retirement travel plans.

It would also put a nice ribbon around the Bush Legacy, AND serve as a warning to future "Unitary Executives".

Go BIG. Go PUBLIC. Go Global.

There were all the children whom of course have no worries like so many others and there was Pelosi and they were off with the vote.

Why not just run 2006 video , we would not have been able to tell the difference.

DC truely is bubble dome.

In reality what should happen is what happens to anyone else at any job, 90 days probation and if you screw it up then here comes the pink slip and on comes the next rep.

You would see change then.

Anyone can make promises then they get 6 years in a position and are allowed to get away with this. And then even when it is proven they failed instead of making an issue out of it they keep their seat and continue on without conscience.

So what we have are kings and Queens and their rule not our will carried out.
