Gupta: our health care system is a "shameful system". He needs his feet held to the fire on this.

As much as I cringed at the choice when I heard it, I took the time to review the Larry King episode with Gupta and Moore facing off.

When asked by Moore about what he thinks about our system, that requires approval for procedures and/or referrals by someone in a cubicle a thousand mile away, Dr Gupta responds by saying that our system is a shameful system.

It's been a while since I've seen that face off but I remember coming away from it thinking that Gupta was a bit too charitable defending the system. I'm pretty sure he was totally against universal health care. I'll have to take another look at that.
