Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 08:48 AM by debbierlus
Guys...

This administration is in DIRE straits.

ANY story about Iran aggression should be IMMEDIATELY questioned and treated as suspect....

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Report_Iran_seizes_15_British_Marines_0323.html

Lord help us. This administration will take us to WW III to stop their downfall.

Courage, people.

3. Right.
Because an terrorist organization infiltrating Israeli territory to capture and kill two soldiers is the same thing as a legitimate military force taking custody of other members of a legitimate military force in an area with border disputes.

6. What is Chicken Little about saying be wary?
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 08:48 AM by debbierlus

This administration is completely capable of utilizing this incident to get the war they want.

It is just a time to be vigilant. Not panic.

10. Just wait til Bush orders our ships and troops to intervene and free the brit soldiers held by Iran
At least that could be this Administration's story.

It more likely would be an aggressive attack on Irani forces, and when they retaliate Bush might unleash a massive attack on Iran 'to protect our troops, and protect the forces of peace in the area.'

Wonder how that would affect attention in Washington, D.C.??

13. Speaking of ships, how many of the U.S. navy's capital ships
...in the waters off Iran are nuclear and if a nuclear carrier is sunk what kind of a disaster as far as nuclear contamination to the waters would be created?

11. British Marines (and commandos) are pretty tough...
I would think it would be difficult to capture just a couple, let alone 15 of them, unless it was a setup.

Now, I can't pull up the rawstory site (all I get is a blank red screen), so I haven't read the article yet, but when I see "15 British Marines captured" in our present environment of lies and deceit, I have to be...well..."wary."

12. For your edification, the story does specify that the 15 marines
in two rubber dinghies were surrounded by 6 Iranian navy vessels, presumably patrol boats. They were vastly outnumbered and outgunned, and had no beef with Iran (yet) so they would have done the sensible thing and laid down their arms. It's not the first time it happened in this area. I'm sure they have standing orders on how to react in confrontation with Iranian navy forces.

What I find funny about it is the freighter they were searching was suspected of smuggling cars into Iraq. Why would anyone smuggle cars into Iraq, where they have 60% unemployment and nobody has the cash to be buying them? Just seems fishy to me.

16. That makes sense, following orders
The marines probably surrendered because that's the standing rules of engagement with superior Iranian forces, or they radioed their headquarters and were ordered to surrender.

Being tough or being scared has nothing to do with it. They would have done whatever action was ordered.

17. Nobody has the cash to buy them?
Billions of dollars have gone missing in Iraq. I'm sure it wasn't burnt. It's just that the average person doesn't have the cash to buy smuggled cars.
