Did you ever think it would be like this?
I don't recall past inaugurations ever being so exciting and hopeful. It's not just having a new president after what bush has done to this country. Hillary might have generated this much excitement, but it's hard to tell. With Obama it does feel like there is hope for the future.

It's better than I dreamed possible.

2. They used to be taken for granted
After the disgrace of GWB having to run for the gates from an angry crowd this seems like a cool summer breeze.

I was disgusted in 2005. Didn't care or want to hear anything about that chimp.

Now I am filled with excitement!

3. it's the contrast . . . after eight years, we will finally have a president who is . . .

intelligent, educated, curious, compassionate, thoughtful, empathetic, perceptive, kind, benevolent, centered, and confident . . . and knows good music when he hears it . . .

as opposed to the direct opposite, as epitomized by he who will be leaving office tomorrow -- about eight years too late . . .

the contrast has never been greater, because the incumbent has never been worse . . .

Poppy Bush...but sadly the son came back to bite us in the ass. There were enormous hopes on Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Clinton the "centrist" and Gore the more Liberal. A "dream team." Clinton gave wonderful speeches and energized us Dems after 8 years of Reagan and four more of the incompetent Bush I.

Let's have hope that this one works out better. That we Dems have finally gotten change that will last.

7. With the possible exception of
George Washington, okay mayber FDR in 1932, I don't think any President has been so eagerly anticipated by the country. I keep on calling up videos of election night, and I feel the thrill all over again. Never, never has the announcement of the newly-elected President been greeted with such joy and happiness. This really is unprecedented.

I'm 60, and I have faint memories of Eisenhower's re-election in 1956, and good, clear memories of all the Presidents after him. And while each and every time the supporters of the man who won (or stole) the election were quite happy at the results, there is a joy in this one that stands head and shoulders above every other election and inauguration I've known. I also lived in the DC area from 1968 to 1981, and so I suffered through several inaugurations those years.

8. The entire world is excited and hopeful about tomorrow.
We need to help and guide Obama as his presidency begins, and each do our part to make our country better for everyone.

10. I must say this is quite different.
Most normal people I know are going to be watching the inauguration live. I've never seen anything like this.

I'm so happy it's a Dem that's causing all this hoopla. I don't think any puke could ever generate such excitement and hopefulness.
