So my classes got cancelled tomorrow
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 01:43 AM by MichaelHarris
at WSU. Man I studied all weekend, I knew Marbury v Madison inside out, I knew Native American treaties, I was prepared! It sounds like I'm disappointed but I'm not, I finally get to grab a camera and shoot tomorrow's events on both campuses, WSU and the UofI. I haven't had a chance to hold a camera since the Ducks from Oregon mauled us:

While I'm on that subject, here's a plea. If you live in a college town support Womens sports. It's blast and it costs very little, a fraction of what other events cost. They really do appreciate the support.

my first Law type class and the first case wiped me out. I haven't been to college in 20 years and all that dry reading whupped me. I really think I over-prepared for most of it.

4. They make a real mistake that way,
making the first cases among the most difficult! Thought I'd NEVER understand Contracts, aside from Con'l Law!

8. The instructor
is really a cool guy, he said Con Law is used as a "weed-out" class at some schools. When I asked him if it was at WSU I got this look that scared me :) I haven't opened a school book in 20+ years. I'm taking Con Law for just me really, no real goal other than a journalism degree from WSU.

13. Here's a funny story
a guy told me he took Con Law last semester and on the first day he had his laptop open. When the first class ended the entire back row borrowed his computer and dropped the class.

22. no
but everyone in the class say they are pre-law. WSU doesn't really have a pre-law curriculum I don't think. I went back for photography and journalism, WSU has a great journalism school. I got into the program but the photography instructor looked at my portfolio and basically said I didn't need her class. To be honest I really wanted the 3 hours. I need 9 hours in Fine Arts and photography is what I know. I'm down to basket weaving or nude drawing.

3. Heh. They're letting us watch in the cafeteria on the bigscreen at work....
So we don't take all of the company's bandwidth at our desks.

Which we would do, given no other option, or else not show up to work at all.

5. I think that's going t be
pretty fun, seeing on the big screen with your co-workers and friends. I got an email on my student account from the professor saying a number of students had emailed asking for time off. I'm way out of the loop being an older student but I think there may be some events going on. I'm going to load up my camera bag and hit the campus, hopefully get some great human interest shots.

But I did attend UofO, so I support them. Your photos are really good. Is it difficult to take sports photos?

41. you know
what makes it hard is digital. Shooting indoors with all of the different lighting is more of a challenge than getting a shot and not getting plowed over. White balance and digital is something that will help everyone take better shots. When I work with people shooting digital the first thing we do is learn about white balance.

21. "Boy that camera takes GREAT pictures..."
...My mom's comment when I won my first photography contest...Really nice shots you got there too. Is that film or digital??? Last time I shot (high-school) sports it was Manual SLR's and high-speed Ilford HP4 monochrome C-41 since we had no in house lab...The compositions good but the way you handle the mixed lighting and kept your depth of field at a high shutter speed is excellent.

24. LOL
you always hear that, "your camera takes great pictures!" Thank you for the nice comments. For work like sports and journalism I shoot diital, not by choice really but because everyone else does and you have to be faster than the next person. With digital lighting can break you. I actually use a product called ExpoDisk to help me white balance in every venue. For street type photography I shoot 90% film.

29. What kind of camera?...
...Are you presently working as a photojournalist?

That would be a great career to tinker with as I think the current journalism transition is going to favor the visual guys. The Web is more conducive to photo spreads than print.
