Being bi-racial, I am also proud of having America's first bi-racial President!
No, that's not why I supported and voted for him. Just a thought I had today.

Growing up I never thought I could be President. I always felt a little different being the son of a white woman and a Mexican-American man.

Maybe the 10 year old kid in the same place in his/her life today can see something for themselves that I didn't.

What a great day in American history. :)

My mother was a Russian Jew, my father an Italian Catholic.

I got it all -the Jewish guilt, the Catholic shame, the Russian madness, and the Italian way with revenge.

5. We live in an ethnically diverse neighborhood
and all the kids who came trick-or-treating last Halloween were kids of color, many bi- or multi-racial. Our Obama portrait/Yes We Can jack o'lantern was a big hit. I was struck then by the certainty that any of those kids could grow up to be President and that this particular barrier was crumbling. I'm happy that they get to experience this moment in history.
