OK: Party's Over. Get To Work
When and where is your next local government public meeting?
Be there.

Wear your Obama button, hat, or tee-shirt, or nothing, just go.
When it comes to the public comment section, get up and talk.

If nothing else, tell them that you have been sent there by the President of the United States.
He wants you to be there.

You have your orders. Make it happen.

1. I agree with the advice, but not the sentiment.
President Obama has issued a call to action and participation, he has not ordered anybody to do anything - that was the last guy remember?

2. Heh
You're right, Obama didn't place the order, I did.

Now, ya gonna do it, or not?
Are ya gonna sit on the sidelines, or get in there and make a play?

4. I already do, but not because I was ordered to do it.
Among many other things, like; I coach soccer, lead a den of young scouts, participate at pta and many other volunteer activities, organize our HOA...etc. As well as running the IT dept. for a large company, raising and 8 year old genius and being a good husband.

There is only one way to effect change in people and their world and that is to particpate.

I find that you can not order people to do something that they currently do not actively want or desire. They have to desire the outcome of their actions. There has to be a vested interest. While you can TELL people it is in their best interest to participate, I have had better luck at showing them.

Let me be known by my actions and let my actions influence others...words without deeds, nobody heeds.

Peace.

6. Well
Most people are wimps and need to be ordered to get up and stand up for their rights.

The fact that they haven't is why this country is such a mess and why he order must be placed.

So, the order stands. And it must be obeyed. No one is free to shirk it.

7. I realize that you are being cheeky...got it.
Leadership ability. President Obama has got it. He inspires greatness, he pitches in and rolls up his sleeves, same with VP Biden. That is what leaders around the country need to take to heart. How do I NOW inspire greatness in the people I serve?

9. How?
How do you inspire greatness? By setting an example.

One time at a meeting with mayors and commissioners when they we're all wringing their hands over what to do and what to ask for, I simply asked: "We deserve the best, don't we?"

Who in their right mind would argue against that? Do we, or do we not, deserve the best?

10. I know you get it.
The question was rhetorical, but I should have answered it...rather than leaving it blank...

Thanks!

11. Thank you
You are one of the few brave ones here who are more concerned about what's gonna happen tomorrow rather than what color dress was worn yesterday.

5. Allow me to say...
When you do go to the meeting and get up and let them know you are there to become a player you will be exercising your right to free speech and making proud all the men and women that sacrificed their lives to make sure you could do just that.

In other words, you will have the weight of everyone from George Washington to the newest soldier behind you. You will not be alone.

8. Well
It looks like most DUers are gonna let this slide?

If DUers of all people aren't gonna get off their asses and do what it takes, even just this simple thing of showing elected officials who they are, then this country has gone to shit.

Of course, it has ever been thus.

Seems I have been the only one to be present at these meetings, and it would have been nice to see a few others do the same, but they haven't, and it looks like they never will.

We are doomed.

16. I don't want anybody to say, "Yes, we did."
We haven't done anything, yet. That starts today with all of us.
