I have been hearing it was light
it was a joke
no one was searched or wanded
None of the threatening searches and delays due to searches happened.

What was your experience???

1. I saw no searches. I was on the WMon. grounds. I think cops had the right to stop you...

if you were carrying something, which I was not.

I think it was discretionary, which is a Good Thing and a Bad Thing.

But I saw no one being searched.

The troops along 18th and Conn. etc. were not visibly armed, contributing to a lower security profile.

I saw some SWAT cops.

Standard buses and humvees to block streets.

2. I saw nothing - and was expecting it to be tight. I was expecting
to be wanded, and had a metal expandable pole onto which I would hang a hat should I lose my grandson. They checked no bags, nothing.
Coming into town on my walk the only thing the security people said to us was: Welcome to Washington, as they grinned at us happily.

I think it is very telling on many levels that there was not a single arrest in the entire city all day.

3. And very telling that the EX Admin. was trying to spread fear about the crowds and searches.

4. From what I've heard they were overwhelmed by the shear numbers..
people just simply started jumping the barriers, and I guess they gave it up at that point. Interesting that there were NO ARRESTS.
