1. Not a quandary for them at all, I don't think
They have no love for this country. If AQ destroyed every single city and township in the United States, the knuckledraggers would laugh with glee simply because it occurred under Obama's watch.

2. I don't know why they can't see their way through this.
AQ is obviously pretending to hate Obama in order to deceive us. You know, like when Republicans pretend to hate Ken Lay & Jack Abramoff.

3. I think we all know who they really hate, and it's themselves.
Poor little confused freepers.

5. I'll confess to spending a bit of time over there and I've found one major truth
about them. They are all frightened. Terrified, actually. Afraid of their own shadows and imaginary bad guys who are going to invade their homes, steal their pennies, rape their wives and eat their children. They are obsessed with being "kept safe".

Hence the need for more and more guns and the terror of anyone who doesn't look like them. I suspect an in-depth study would show fundamental differences in the "fear" portion of the brains of extreme right-wingers and normal people.

6. I have relatives who are practically suicidal over this.
I keep thinking of the natives on Iwo Jima who were told by the Japanese that the Americans would torture and rape them, and how they threw their children off cliffs and then jumped to their deaths.

22. Not to nitpik, but that was Okinawa...

...all the civilians on Iwo Jima were evacuated before the battle began.

10. It would be interesting to do a study...
Do naturally fearful people become Freeper-types?

Or does Freeperism itself induce that much fear?

I'm confused about it, quite frankly, since I've suffered from panic and anxiety disorders since childhood (over 45 years). If anyone should be a Freeper, it should be me, but I'm not.

Strange.

15. I'm no expert, but
my sense is that their fear is of a very primal, primitive sort and not related to what we'd consider generalized anxiety disorders. They've got no clue why they are afraid, or even that they are afraid; it's just a part of their make up.

It's a vicious cycle - Fear leads to hatred, hated leads to more fear, more fear to deeper hatred. Toss in some fear mongering by people who know how to manipulate this and you end up with Freepers.

18. Well, that's the interesting part...
because I've read (and I don't know how true it is) that the only real fear that humans are born with...a visceral fear...is the fear of falling.

All the rest has to be programmed into us somehow.

So I wonder, where exactly did it come from? Parents? Society?

Is it so deeply ingrained that it can never be deprogrammed?

And so this goes along with my disclosure about panic and anxiety disorders. Part of it is nature, part of it is nurture (or lack of it). Why do some people become so fearful that they become virtual crazies...

The human mind is just fascinating territory, you know...

:)

19. My mother has a simple way of addressing all these sorts of questions:
It's just what the gene pool tossed your way. And it's a deep, deep pool.

She has six daughters, and each is more different than the next, politically, emotionally, you name it. Same household, same schools, same parents, same TV shows, same ugly ass dog.

Sure, environment has it's role and children raised in less than ideal circumstances are likely to suffer and I'm sure birth order does play an important role, but as I get older I get closer and closer to concluding my mother is right. We only have so much control over who we are and what we become.

9. Why let them off easy?
Obama, Al Qaeda, Pro Choice, Gays, Democrats, Godless heathens, "Muslins", "Morans", and people who go through the "10 Items or Less" line with 12 items.

Give 'em a whole bunch of stuff to hate until their teeny little heads explode

They need to evolve beyond hate.

Not that I expect they care about my pov on the matter, lol.

When Saddam attacked us on 911, didn't we go fight Obama there so we didn't have to fight him here?

17. William Faulkner understood hate versus hope (Absalom, Absalom!) ..
Hate v. Hope

"When you have plenty of good strong hating you don't need hope because the hating will be enough to nourish you."

William Faulkner

a particularly useful concept...

23. Freepers are the unhappiest people on Earth. They lack common sense, and live off their delusions.
These people are seriously demented, and are mired in perpetual anger and victimhood.

Even when they were running the table back in 2001-3006, they still bitched about the "liberal press," liberal this and liberal that.

Also, they never cop to failure. They never think anything through, or go back to the drawing board. They just stupidly press forward, no matter how insane the issue is. Think "Mission Accomplished."

And in their wake, there's nothing but death and destruction. You wanna talk un-Americanism?**Everything** freepers do (or don't do) is un-American. They laugh at climate change in the face of overwhelming peer-reviewed science; they think what happened at Abu Gharib was something no worse than fraternity pranks, and so on.

Now, they openly wish Obama ill -- their very own duly elected president, chief executive and commander in chief. The vomitously hideous Rush Limbaugh has publicly stated that he hopes the Obama sdministration will fail.

And again I ask, isn't that extremely un-American? :grr:
