Raise your hand if you have gotten off of your butt to stop this war
I think it is time for DUers to stand up and say how they are working for change. How are we making a difference? I know we are working but we don't hear about it. It sickens me that Americans go about their days thinking that supporting the troops is a 'honk for peace' every so often. They gobble the oil that was paid for by soldiers blood without a thought. Check in on how the peace effort is going in your world.

Here is a post that I am shamelessly promoting in an effort to get the word out. Peace and love to you, Kim

2. Hand up!
I do what I can. We have regular rallies here but I think it is more important to keep in touch with our congress reps.

5. I agree about touching base with Congress.
I think that is the key. Those people think 600 calls on one issue is a lot! It boggles my mind that we can't do that every day. I keep a print out of all of the congress and senators and when I call regarding an issue I log it. It helps to be able to look back over the year and see the effort. Peace to you. Kim

8. Our rep spoke at our Iraq anniversary rally last weekend
And he said "I don't need 185 people in my office asking me to end the war". And he told us to pester the reps who are still supporting the war.

LOL Like he thinks we haven't been doing just that?

10. He also forgets that many times, as I am sure he knows,
if you aren't a constituent they do not want to hear from you. I really get hot when that happens but it is not uncommon. After your reps comment I would surely call as regularly as possible. Too funny!

12. He is really a great rep
and his statement surprised me.

Remember in the 70s, there was a story about Nixon looking out the window of the oval office at the war protesters outside and asking when they were going home?

I keep remembering that story. Pressure works. Methinks our rep is feeling that pressure.

3. Although I can't get off my butt
(I am a seated person), I can't recall the number of rallies/marchs I've attended, signs and bumperstickers I've created and the letters/emails I written to my representatives.

A short while ago, my Dem senator held a townhall meeting in my town. He was surprised that the number one issue of those that attended was the war in Iraq. And we have some serious local issues.

6. It was a figure of speech you know : )
I think spirits fly higher than legs every time. Thank you for checking in. I get frustrated because I feel that this war is a life of death situation for so many and I know it is going to take people like you and me and those at your town hall meeting to get this thing stopped. Great to hear from you. Peace, Kim

13. I knew it was a figure of speech
but I wanted to make a small point. Everyone can contribute to ending these wars in their own way.

Peace

4. I am trying to get local as much as possible. That means
I talk to my neighbors and look for local actions to support. Trying to get an impeachment group together. It's looking for opportunities everyday.

7. Great for you!
I am shamelessly trying to get more of these mobile memorials out there. If you think your neighbors are up for it this is a great way to get the conversation in the community going! Thank you for checking in. This post was an act out of frustration for me and it really helps to hear what we as a DU community are actually doing to try to get this war stopped. I love the Impeachment idea as well and will be right there with you. Peace, Kim

Where can you find the time. I feel pinned.

11. I hear that!
A call or email to your reps will help and takes just a minute. I try to keep it short and sweet...well maybe not so sweet! They seem to think that if we don't check in once and a while they can do what they want to. Peace, Kim
