I just laugh whenever I read these "St. Ronnie" stories, particularly the ones written by Michael Reagan, because of course they leave out his devotion to astrology. Which doesn't exactly fit in the fundamentalist framework, does it? But then Michael has a career that depends on making the fundamentalists happy and Nancy still wants "St. Ronnie" on Mt. Rushmore and believes the fundamentalists have the power, they certainly have the money, to put him there. Patty of course "mended the fence" when she realized how much money she might be disinherited from. Ron is the current renegade. Coming out for Obama. Which his father probably would have. Which the fundamentalists also leave out. Ron and Patty are sort of the black sheep. Depending on the interview or the book.

The family itself is not exactly a fundamentalist family. But the fundamentalists do love them just the same. And why not? They are as disconnected from reality as "St. Ronnie" was at times.
