Edwards is not putting his work ahead of his family..
He is trying to serve his country to protect his and American families future! Not my candidate, but I give it up to him for thinking he has the best plan to implement for the future good of the country.

like cancer, continuing your normal activities can help you cope better.

I remember when Andy was very ill, he went and conducted a seminar on election reform and I know it did him a world of good to be doing something NORMAL.

3. Is he putting his family before his work?
It seems that he is not.

The decision to stay in the race is a family one. God bless them.

I don't think that his work will help his wife, but I am not an MD.

Peace and low stress to all those that are suffering. God bless.

4. It isn't a question of one before the other.
So you get up in the morning and say,"How ya' feel hon?" What do you do with the rest of the day? Sit and stare at her? No, you and she both get on with life and live it just like you did before.

5. There is nothing wrong with people putting their work ahead of their family
Everyone sets their priorities for themselves.

7. Welcome to DU! Here's my response to this false issue:
If any President wakes up one morning to discover that his/her spouse has been diagnosed with cancer, is he or she supposed to resign from office? This tragedy could befall anyone, anywhere and when it does, life goes on. This is an issue that farmers, druggists, teachers, bankers, doctors, lawyers, construction workers, busboys, waitresses, and even politicians must confront every day. As callous as it may sound, this is an instance of "walking and chewing gum at the same time" - something we must demand of any future President. I think that the Edwards' are handling this terrible situation as well as anyone I have seen or heard of, and I wish them the very best. But facing tragedy and dealing with it in a hopeful, courageous way is exactly the way I hope that I would behave. This is an awful family ordeal that the Edwards are going through, but it is not a campaign issue.

8. very well said...
life is full of uncertainty...no one can predict the outcome. How we choose to live is the question we all are required to answer...in deeds rather than words.
