Nothing more. Those here who are expending so much energy lecturing US over his name should be worrying about him and Michael "Rusty" Steel as the "new" faces of the GOP, a party of rich old white men.

I see right through the bullshit.

5. If Governor Jindal is the GOP "attack dog,"
The GOP needs to consult a reference on dog breeds.

BTW - on Rustbucket - Sis flipped channels through Hannity last night and we both heard Steelie say the stimulus will work as intended - she had flipped on past before it really dawned on me what the bonebrain said. Somebody somewheres HAS to have it on tape. PLEASE GOD!

9. The concern trolls talk about ideas
but if facts and logic were all that was required, there'd be no freepers and Bush* would never have been governor, much less president twice.

12. That would include Skinner I assume?
Or could it be that some of us thing that pointing out bigotry is important and it doesn't suddenly become OK because the target of the bigotry is someone we don't like.

The irony about all of this is that here we have clear-cut bigotry in action and you're all bent out of sorts about the fact that some dare point it out. But of when a NY post cartoon satirizing immediately current events comes out that reflects conservative positions that we don't like, suddenly we're squinting and bending over backwards to turn it into overt, blatant racism.

Basically, what I've learned from DU is that racism, sexism and homophobia are completely OK with many as long as the target of such behavior is Republican. But racism, sexism and homophobia are freely read into everything large or small if the accusation can somehow be pinned on a conservative.

I wish we could have more honest discussions about resolving this contradiction.

16. DU stopped being honest a long time ago
This fight over the use of his name is a straw dog. We wasted so much energy over this the mment for Obama has passed, and the Pukes who started this are laughing at us.

18. That would only matter if this forum mattered (nationally speaking,) which it doesn't.
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 07:51 PM by Political Heretic
Let me put that a different way. Because I'm not trying to be rude about DU, to which I just donated last week....

This forum includes all kinds of posters. But as an organization itself, it is nothing more than a place for people to get together and share their opinions on - whatever. It is not a lobbying organization or an advocacy organization. We are not collectively influencing policy through the vehicle of DU. It's a place for us to come as a community and get stuff off our chest, or debate our political philosophies, share research, etc.

So, it really doesn't MATTER if some members want to spend a lot of time debating some issue while you think some other issue is important. If you do, then post threads on it. But whether DU is talking about Jindal's name or DU is talking about Obama's speech doesn't matter in the national scheme of things a single bit.
