Book Signings: Joe the Plumber vs. Ann Coulter
The Coultergeist:

"Syndicated columnist, right-wing pundit and New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter found herself surrounded by hand soap, mirrors, porcelain and running water during a recent booksigning.

How many more porcelain fixtures were there outside the frame?

Coulter, hosted by Furman University's Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow, gave her Wednesday address, entitled "Liberals are Wrong About Everything," to a crowd of 1,800 at the university's McAlister Auditorium.

The following photo of Coulter, shot by The Greenville News' Heidi Heilbrunn, alludes to a less-than-luxurious accommodation for Coulter as she greeted speech attendees and offered her autograph:"

Joe the Plumber:

"Joe the Plumber (no longer a plumber; first name actually Samuel) popped into our town yesterday evening to sell his new book and to remind people that he's still a plain and simple guy. Mission accomplished, on at least one of his missions.

About 11 people wandered into the rows of seats set up hopefully in the basement of a downtown Border's bookstore to hear Joe speak. Joe addressed them from behind a lectern and with a microphone, but that seemed unnecessarily formal...

It's fair to say Joe's appearance at Borders at 18th and L streets wasn't eagerly anticipated. People just kind of shuffled over when Joe strode in with Thomas N. Tabback, the co-author of "Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream." Annie Hickman, a young woman whom Wurzelbacher called "sweetie" during a brief Q&A, was browsing when the PA announced that Joe was in the house. "I'm missing pottery class for this," she said."

I personally think they fit into the Freeper mold perfectly... relegated to bathrooms and basements....

7. This is what happens when you forget to flush. Turds end up on the furniture.

3. "Joe's" 15 minutes of fame certainly seem to be up, don't they? As for Scary Annie....
... although I think it takes Odysseus to off a harpy, she might be fading a bit. One can hope.

4. You know what the funny thing is? Once Joe's 'book' hits the 99 cent bargain area at my local
bookstore, I might actually throw a dollar and get it. It will be one of those things I can tell people years from now that yes, that doofus actually "wrote" a "book".

8. I think Joe's book was already on the toilet paper dispenser in the room where Coulter was signing.

6. Soon They'll Be Signing Each Others "Books"
That parallel universe they live in is getting smaller and smaller. The jokes are no longer funny (as if they ever were) and the shtick no longer shocks or gets much outside attention. And the longer they don't realize it, the better it will be for our country as they become more and more irrelevant.

along a row of Porta-Potties to attract the freepers.

Edit...Ann Coaltar had done this kind of thing enough to know that if you want to attract freeper types the best place to set up shop is near the poopers. She might even attract a GOP senator or two in that area. You'd think that Joe would know his sh!t about selling books like he knows everything else there is to know about everything else.

Edit...Do you think that it will ever dawn on Ann and Joe that money is kind of scarce these days thanks to Bush and the GOP totally ruining the country economically? The freepers can't afford beer and those wild eyed reich wing works of fiction both in these troubled times. Maybe if the republicans hadn't balked on the stimulus package and demanded those 125 billion dollars worth of cuts to the package, people might have had a little more money to spend on wasteful spending...frivolous things like that rabid, hard reich, swill/propaganda/bullshit in those books.
