Question regarding iPhone
What is the advantage of using wi-fi on iphone when available?

1. It's faster for the Internet stuff. The phone part still uses 3G.

That said, I typically use the Wi-Fi feature around the house and depend on 3G when I'm out in public. It can be a pain to see an available, open connection, and then not be able to connect anyway for one reason or another. You have to go several settings levels in to "forget" the network and begin using 3G again. So away from home, I normally just use 3G.

3. Seconded. I found out the hard way that connecting with an 'available' network
is almost always a waste of time.

4. I just turn the wi-fi setting off; that way it goes right to 3G

and you don't have to make it forget the network. I usually can connect to an open network without any trouble, though.
