Why does anyone credit anything that Chris Matthews has to say?
Sure, he's lately found enough spine to come down on a few Republicans, Jindal among them, but he's been every bit as much a cog in the corporate media machine as Blitzer or Hannity.

Until fairly recently I would have pegged him as far Right. But people seem to respond to his declarations as if they matter.

:wtf:

1. Chris Matthews is an entertainer; he's OK when put in context.
He will take whichever stance or side necessary to make his show interesting. He doesn't have allegiance to anyone; blows with the wind. Some days he sounds like a Dem, other days a Puke.

Entertainer.

3. Then his commentary should be disregarded altogether
Let him entertain, if that's to be his role. But he's too often mistaken for a commentator qualified to give informed comment.

5. And for the past few days,
he sounds like he's in love with Rush. Must be his latest man-crush.

6. Who wrote that article? Altermann? Either way it was hilarious.
Hilarious because it was totally true, in that Matthews always turns into a fawning fanboy when his current "interest" is on his show.

4. Tweety suddenly started to tack to the left after Stephanie Miller called him a "right-wing tool."

And YET!1 (similar to SNL's "Really!1" meme, POEHLER/MEYERS)

AND YET, there is a sub rosa contingent of fans of his here. Mostly, they are, I believe, those who formed their impression of him back around 1988 when "Hardball" the book was published, when his identity as a Tip O'NEILL et al. staffer became known----AND (this is crucial) these fans of his did NOT KEEP UP with his cable persona, how he SAVAGED Bill CLINTON and most Dems for years, how he SAVAGED Al GORE throughout Campaign 2000, how he has worshipped RAYGUN, how he whored for Shrub for 8 yrs. Those fans of his frequently repeat as if by rote such canards as, "He was ALWAYS AGAINST THE WAR" and "He was against the war BECAUSE HE HAS DRAFT AGE SONS" and "WHEN he's on our side THERE'S NOBODY BETTER." These fans of his never say where they got the one about the sons, especially ignoring that THERE IS NO DRAFT. Granted, he was more Lib in his now defunct newspaper column than on his G.E.RUSSERT-mentored cable incarnation, but in the run-up to the Iraq Attack NOBODY was more xenophobic and jingoistic than he was, and he SHAMEFULLY performed the on-air execution of Phil DONAHUE as a guest peer on DONAHUE's own show.

Another thing is how the wingnuts label him as a Lib and as an example of that storied "liberal media"-------and how HE hever corrects this label, despite his having voted for Shrub, despite his having said, "I'm not the Dem I used to be," despite his saying to a Dem, disappointedly, "Oh. You're STILL a Dem."

HooKAY!1 Anything about him sets me SO off!1

8. You just reminded me of another Tweety line-
"I used to be a liberal, too-and then I grew up." Really pissed me off at the time, but I can't remember who he was talking to.
