'Voice your appreciation for those in quarantine.'
'Voice your appreciation for those in quarantine.' By Lori Price 09 Mar 2009 'Be prepared to be quarantined for months at a time. When you're talking to people, voice your appreciation for those in quarantine. Talk about how they're hometown heroes and doing what they need to be doing in order to protect the community... ' --P.J. Havice-Cover, a mental health professional and program coordinator, State of Colorado - Scientists say pandemic is certain --Expert panel tells emergency managers it's just a matter of when the avian flu will spark a pandemic. By Stephanie Backus 07 Mar 2009 Many scientists are now sure that a version of H5N1, or the avian flu, will cause a pandemic in the future. While speaking to health officials at the National Emergency Management Summit Thursday, several experts said the issue was no longer an "if" issue, it was now "when."

1. Though H5N1 is the most likely
candidate to start a pandemic, no one can say that it will be the one. There are a lot of other flu viruses out there that could mutate and be the culprit. It will happen, nobody knows when.

2. Oh it will happen
some people will see this as fear mongering, but we got the very early alerts back in '92 or '93 when they started seeing it as a candidate

We are way behind for one... and nature has its ways of balancing populations

I made my peace a while ago... triage and all that happy horse... if we have a pandemic, I know I am one to be left

Problem with knowing the principles..

6. I think it will happen too
and that it probably will be h5n1. But the infectious disease guys say it could be one of a number of strains that could cause a pandemic.I am as prepared as I can be and just follow the news. Indonesia after a spate of cases the past few weeks just imposed a press moratorium on news on cases not confirmed by the govt.

8. Joy, I follow the news...
but when it happens, it will be interesting... to be honest.

One of the legacies of bush in this country is that people mistrust the gub'mint even more

9. The Indonesian health minister wrote a book on how the US is using...
bird flu samples to create a bio-weapon and to generate a pandemic, to make a financial killing on the vaccines.

7. New-Fields had a bunch of 'Bird Flu Summits' and guess what?
Edited on Tue Mar-10-09 02:09 AM by CLG_News
New-Fields also sponsored Iraq energy conferences. Apparently, the same industries behind the bird flu vaccines/security also drove the energy industries in Iraq. Shocking, isn't it?
There is a *killing* to be made by the (US-manipulated) avian flu virus - and US corpora-terrorists can't wait for the pandemic party to begin.

New Fields Exhibitions, Inc. is a leading emerging markets and business information provider, producing trade shows that produce results for companies worldwide. 14. Wow...we have privatized disasters and the contractors are poised for profit making.
I just bet they regret the Black Plague is no longer in vogue.

btw...that recent story about an Austrian lab "accidently" mixing live flue virus with a vaccine and distributing it to 18 sources world wide....

Probably just co-incidence.

10. Does that cover the 100 mysterious deaths of leading microbiologists since 9/11?
That in and of itself is indeed an omen of sorts.

12. Shut up Lori. ID specialists have been saying this for years.
Pandemic could happen next year, could be 10 or 20 years from now. Certainly not news.

If a pandemic happens the only way to remain safe is to self-quarantine.

Killer flu recreated in the lab 07 Oct 2004

Scientists have shown that tiny changes to modern flu viruses could render them as deadly as the 1918 strain which killed millions.
A US team added two genes from a sample of the 1918 virus to a modern strain known to have no effect on mice.

Animals exposed to this composite were dying within days of symptoms similar to those found in human victims of the 1918 pandemic.

The research is published in the journal Nature.
