GOP pol gets caught making death threats, refuses to apologize
Saturday's paper:

Former Alderman Keith Hirschmann says he was just being "sarcastic" when he threatened to maim Alderman Peter Sullivan in a message on an online discussion board.

Sullivan, a Ward 3 Democrat, said he interpreted the message as a death threat. The message referred to Sullivan by name and said, "if you could please jay walk near the corner of pearl and elm, i'll do you the favor of not having to kill yourself."

The writer then mused about what would happen if a car rammed into Sullivan at 25 mph, saying, "well that (would) put part of you near bridge st."

Then on Sunday:

Former Alderman Keith Hirschmann has confessed to doing some sarcastic "bantering" on the nhinsider.com discussion board before Alderman Peter Sullivan sicked the police on him.

It's true, he did make some mischief. In November, his online alter ego, "suncoastkid," took a shot at former state Rep. Mike Brunelle, dredging up the time in 2007 when the Manchester Democrat was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Hirschmann wrote: "if I were on duty and Brunelle pulled that bs ~ I would have clubbed him in the back of the Paddy wagon."

Other insights, courtesy of the "kid," include, "Hussein Obama should get his head checked," and "Slavery has not ended, it has just morphed into the dumming (sic) of the masses."

Havin been caught, you'd think he'd be apologetic, right? Wrong. Today's paper:

“After watching Mr. Sullivan completely lose his cool at a recent aldermanic meeting it is obvious he is too fragile to handle the pressure of being an elected official, and it has become more than obvious that he cannot handle a joke said on a political Web site about his penchant for never walking within the crosswalk,” Hirschmann said. “As proven by his numerous blog postings, Mr. Sullivan has a long history of railing against anyone that disagrees with him. Mr. Sullivan has publicly admitted he has been treated for depression, in my opinion, maybe it is time for him to step down from his Ward 3 seat, and get help for his obvious paranoia.”

As of this evening, state Republican chair John Sununu and city Republican chair Will Infantine had yet to denounce Hirschmann's comments.

3. First two: NH Union Leader; Third quote, Manchester Express (weekly)
The Express only posts in PDF files, so it's a pain in the ass to link

2. Here is another death threat that Republicans make
and they try to make it seem like a joke and bantering.

People need to take these threats seriously, sane people don't joke like this. This should go to the FBI if the local police will not investigate this.

4. I had a feeling this happened in my asshole state.
I think I need to straighten this fellow out. No, that's not a threat.

7. He's Joe Kelly Levasseur's business partner
They run a bar and restaurant together.

These two champs actually managed to get thrown out of a Monarchs game at the Verizon after they mouthed off at the security staff. Think about that. In a building with 10,000 loud, boisterous, and often intoxicated hockey fans, they managed to stand out.

6. Aw geez, cancha take a joke?
The perennial comeback of someone who wasn't joking. And yet, when someone comes anywhere near a locution that sounds anywhere vaguely like a threat to these chumsuckers, they're the first ones to go bawling to the media, demanding that Something Be Done.

9. Anybody remember Sununu's old man?
His old man worked for Reagan.

A thoroughgoing bastard, of course.

10. That's who I was referring to, actually
Papa Doc is the new chairman of the New Hampshire GOP state committee. Baby Doc is probably going to run for Judd Gregg's seat in 2010, where he will lose to Congressman Paul Hodes.

11. apologize?
If you or I made a death threat, we'd have at the very least a very unfriendly visit from the police and a warning to get caught within 100 feet of the "butt" of our "joke." And if we made a death threat against a pol, we'd be in jail, wouldn't we?
