Bayh's 15 "Moderates" Named.....
I pulled this from Sen. Udall's website:

Moderate Senate Democrats Launch New Group to Shape Public Policy

snip

Leading the new group are Democratic Senators Evan Bayh of Indiana, Tom Carper of Delaware and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Both Senators Bayh and Carper were successful governors before coming to the Senate, and both are past leaders of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council. Senators Lincoln and Carper bring bicameral experience to the group as former members of the House of Representatives. All three leaders are honorary co-chairs of Third Way, a progressive Democratic policy group.

Others joining the group are Senators Mark Udall and Michael Bennet of Colorado, Mark Begich of Alaska, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Bill Nelson of Florida, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Mark Warner of Virginia.

P.S. I already emailed Udall and discussed in great detail my disappointment in his choice! I am off to email the others now!!!!

6. So now the question becomes.... What will this group do different than regular Dems do?
Will they vote with Repugs? What is it that they want that will sway their vote from that of the main stream?

8. Moderates....yeah, sure...whatever
First off, these scoundrels aren't "moderate" about anything--including advancing their own egos.
They're neocons and they're part of the cabal that wants to maintain the status quo--you know the
corporatist-centered government where greed and power wins the day?

Also, these jerks formed this little cabal for one reason--and one reason only. To stick it to
Obama. They'll threaten to galvanize and make noise every time Obama does something that's not
according to the neocon, corporatist plan.

What a bunch of jerks. At least we know which Dems need to be sent home in the next election.

9. Daily Kos seems to have Bayh's number
This is apparently not a new thing for Evan Bayh to announce. My goodness! Another "moderate" coalition:

Bayh announces same thing over and over

Hey, have you heard that Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) is forming a new, supposedly "moderate" Democratic voting bloc in the Senate?

You have?

Did you hear it today in The Fix?

Evan Bayh's announcement this morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he and 14 other Democratic senators had begun to meet weekly....

Or last week in Roll Call ($)?

Senate Moderates Forming New Bloc

Or the week before that in Politico?

A group of 14 Senate Democrats and one independent huddled behind closed doors on Tuesday, discussing how centrists in that chamber can assert more leverage on the major policy debates that will dominate this Congress. <...>

Sen. Evan Bayh, the Indiana Democrat who assembled Tuesday’s skull session....

Or last year in Roll Call ($)?

Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) is trying to mobilize moderate Democratic Senators to form a group based loosely on the House Blue Dog Coalition.

Or was it seven years ago from the DLC?

Senators Evan Bayh (IN), Bob Graham (FL), Mary Landrieu (LA), Joe Lieberman (CT) and Blanche Lincoln (AR) founded the Senate New Democrat Coalition (SNDC) in the spring of 2000 to provide a unified voice in the U.S. Senate for progressive ideas, mainstream values, and innovative, market-based policy solutions.

Yawn. Sun rises in East, Evan Bayh forms "moderate coalition."

Too bad he's not as moderate in the amount of time he dedicates to making sure people hear how "moderate" he is.

Anyway, here's the thing to remember about what's up here, from The Fix:

A quick examination of the early days of the Obama administration reveals that Bayh has backed up that rhetoric with action.

True, if holding your breath and stomping your feet counts as "action."

Not so much if you allow time for a deeper examination, though. Of if the "action" you're looking for is the actual manifestation of this much-ballyhooed (and that's just by Bayh himself) "coalition's" cohesion. No doubt Bayh has convened such a group. Thing is, though, they're not voting with him.

But as long as Bayh can dine out on just the value of the press conferences, and the stories subsequently generated claiming that his deviancy is "moderate" when it often actually defies strong public opinion keep flowing, I'm sure he couldn't care less whether anything actually happens or not.

most of those members have been wrong about almost every important issue over the past 15 years.

15. I'm sending each and every one a nice note that if they are primaried,
I will send their competition all the money I legally can.

This might be some kind of long con by the Obama brain trust to diffuse the claim that the republicans are the frugal party -

Every huge bill can be moaned about in a controlled way by the centrists and then pushed through in the vote, muddying the role of the Repubs, effectively emasculating them.

I love the word emasculating whnen it comes to repubs.

24. She's still on Obama's side
Except for Bayh being the *ahem* faceman for this (actually, I'm a little surprised Lieberman didn't hit him with an NFL block and knock him out of the camera frames)... but, except for that, I'm sort of wondering if this isn't a "bloc" set up to carry Obama's policies through.

From the political perception standpoint, with all of the Cons moaning and groaning at every opportunity to proclaim, "OMG! Socialism! OMG! Liberalism! OMG! America is dooooomed! OMG!" ... Cons desperately want to plaster Obama as far, far left-wing as possible. They're struggling with the fact that Americans have shifted the center away from them, and they're reeling. This "moderate" group serves as a nice defensive front for Obama.

I'm glad McCaskill's in there; She can give Obama a head's up. I'm much more concerned about letting Lieberman in the door so he can have lunch with McCain and spill everything.

Working on putting in a REAL progressive to replace Bennett and soundly defeating whoever the R's put up.

I'll be writing them both a letter expressing my disappointment for being a Blue Dog - they were elected/replaced by the majority of Coloradans who are populists, not conservative. If we wanted a fuckin' conservative, we'd elect Big Oil Bob Schaeffer or Pete "Moose Piss" Coors.
