XM Radio Listeners-- Changes: Alex Bennett?

I'm aware he has been a Sirius regular, but I'm appalled that he represents himself as a liberal talk host. Can someone explain to me the attraction for someone who clearly NEVER supported Obama, is already stating he's "given up on Obama" (among worse comments) and spends his entire show defending the AIG bonus payments?... I've yet to hear him say anything that strikes me as liberal/progressive?

Can someone please help me understand why XM has chosen to include him on the Liberal Left 167 channel? What am I missing?

Alex Bennett used to be a DJ out here on Live 105. He had a great morning show - it was like a more respectful and liberal Stern show.

Then he went all racist against Obama...

Reminds me of what my older cousin said. He used to love Nugent - but when he went all RW it really bothered him. He used to love him, but every time listening to his music, he kept thinking "that racist asshole...."

4. I sometimes think the Sirius XM folks are trying to F up the liberal channels on purpose

I've thought for the longest time that Sirius was trying to fuck up Sirius Left on purpose. They include Alex Bennett and Lynn Samuels on the Sirius Left station but don't have enough room to give neither Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartman, or Ed Schultz a full three hours on Sirius. They used to have Stephanie on for a full three hours but cut it because they wanted to put their own host - Mark Thompson. After a lot of Sirius listeners complained they put Stephanie on, but only for an hour. Now maybe they're trying to do the same with the XM liberal talk channel.

Sirius puts on at least three republican talk radio channel and labels one right-wing channels "Patriot Channel as if liberals are not patriotic only republicans, complete bullshit....but just look no further than the republican CEO asshole running Sirius/XM!!

23. i used to visit his show on KQAK when i was a kid

quite a bit actually. he would put me on the mic quite a bit.

of course his show back then had guests everyday and lots interaction with the studio audience, regular audience members and the newsguy. which made for a better show.

i haven't listened to him in years, but it sounds like that formula has changed.

5. I was just going to write about Lynn Samuels when I read

your post. She is TERRIBLE!!! Always putting Obama down and talking about stupid things. Then there is her voice....EEEEEEE. It's worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. When I turn on Sirius 146 and hear her voice, I can't change stations fast enough. You are right, Samuels and Bennett are chasing folks like me, who want to listen to progressive radio, away.

wants true universal health care.

I also understand his sentiment about the AIG bonuses. Obviously, so does the WH and the Treasury, as they were the ones to exempt contracts already made from the rule.

I don't agree with him all of the time, but I don't agree with anyone all of the time.

I don't listen to radio to hear an echo chamber. I don't blog to read an echo chamber.

Yeah, good on him. I've been waiting to hear one single progressive idea from him. No, I too do not wish to hear an echo chamber, but most of what I've heard from him could just as easily come from Hannity. :shrug:

Just look at the imbalance of talk radio on Sirius, they do everything possible to dilute progressive talk until it's almost nothing but a decent few hours in a full day.

but, again, I've yet to hear a single liberal/progressive viewpoint from him. He is ACTIVELY preaching the same obstructionism on his radio show against the administration as the REPUGs are advocating. XM could not care less about liberals. Have you noticed when they pre-empt the Left channel for sports or whatever, that the 9 RW channels are still all going strong? Oh, and try to listen to that particular channel online, as they claim you can. Strangely, the Left channel is one of a handful that aren't included online.

the other night. I didn't understand why he was on a XM satellite Air America station. He was doing a Rush Limbaugh routine. Maybe he was trying to get a spot on RW radio which pays more. AS for Lyn Samuels, she started liberal talk shows in NYC. I can't hear her anymore, now that she is on Sirius satellite. She must have changed 180 degrees,

among the more liberal types in SF it's almost fashionable to throw up your hands and disown every democrat you've ever supported. they've done it to Pelosi and Newsom (before he was mayor). of course, the average San Franciscan still supports them and in Pelosi's case she racks up nearly 80% of the vote.

i know this crowd and i work with them and they have expectations of Obama that no human being could ever live up to especially not one who could be elected president. sometimes i take them on, sometimes i just get sick of them and ignore it.
