"Massive effort" needed to protect Fargo as Red River could crest at 40 feet
UPDATED 9:16 a.m.
FARGO – The Red River could crest in Fargo next Saturday at a level of around 40 feet, about two weeks earlier than expected, and city leaders want the public's help in an emergency effort to fight this spring's flood.

Picture was taken in April, 2006

That 1997 mark put the water within 2 inches of over flowing a sidewalk about a block north of where this picture was taken and flooding the downtown area. It would have been all over for Fargo, as in too many places the dikes would have needed to have been raised and there wasn't the man power, time nor the clay to raise the dikes any higher.

1. When they say "next Saturday" do they mean two days from now or nine?
Stay safe.

4. Sucks to be them.
They had 10 + years to fix the problem, or move to higher ground.
