3. Most crime happens between the time school's out and working parents come home.
coincidence?

After school programs are a great investment. They produce well-rounded individuals, gives kids something productive to do in the "downtime" (or at least supervised), and gives working parents a break.

4. Remember midnight basketball in the 1990's?
Bill Clinton tried to fund it for cities (a miniscule amount of money), but the idea was roundly mocked by Rush Limblob and the Republicans in Congress, and the money had to be taken out of the crime bill.

35. I remember seeing Boston on the news..

...and parents picketing against busing - violence and anger on the news every evening. Personally, it didn't effect my schooling.
