1. It sounded to me like he was comparing his SCORE to Special Olympics scores.
What a nothing controversy. On to the next thing.

8. That's not the way I saw it.
I think he was talking about Jay applauding a low score.

17. Yep. Jay talked to him like some people talk to those who are mentally handicapped
And Obama said "It's like the Special Olympics here." Poking fun at Leno for talking to him that way.

16. That's how I took it when Keith described it
I haven't seen it firsthand yet. Hadn't even considered the other interpretation, but will have a better take after I see it for myself.

11. I'd heard about "the comment" and made a point of watching
just for first witness sake. I sure didn't see a problem or a slight in any way. Critics are going to attack anything and everything just to see if they can kill him by a thousand cuts. I'm surprised they haven't slammed him for being left-handed.

15. It's all about the bar.
Low bar for special olympians plus high bar for democratic/African-American president equals manufactured outrage-provoking incident. Watch as the post-Bush bar rockets skyward!

19. Sarcasm, even self-deprecating sarcasm hardly evey work when you hold a position of authority.
At least that my experience when I try to use sarcasm in the classroom. Even if a majority "gets it" there is always someone who gets offended.
