NFL player Stallworth was legally drunk during fatal accident, source says

By JENNIFER LEBOVICH AND DAVID OVALLE

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth was driving drunk last weekend when he struck and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley in Miami Beach, a source with knowledge of the investigation told The Miami Herald.

The source said blood alcohol tests showed Stallworth was above the legal limit. Miami Herald news partner WFOR-CBS4 reported that Stallworth's blood alcohol level was .14. The legal limit is .08.

Miami Beach police would not confirm whether the blood tests were complete, saying the results would not be released until their investigation is complete.

''We have not released anything regarding the blood work,'' said Jenny Velazquez, a police spokeswoman. ``We're not confirming anything.''

No charges have been filed against Stallworth, 28, who is cooperating with detectives investigating Saturday morning's fatal crash on the MacArthur Causeway near South Beach.

Struck and killed was Mario Reyes, 59, who was getting off work as an overnight crane operator and trying to cross the street to catch a bus home just after 7 a.m. He died at the scene.

and somebody else's. Not worth the drive in any car. Take a cab or stay where you are until you can get a ride. Stalworth's life is ruined and somebody else loses a life. Horrible all around.

5. Some of these
over privileged NFL assholes are ridiculous. Between Pacman, Plaxico, T.O., and now this assclown, the NFL needs to start doing psych testing on a regular basis. Role models my black ass.

11. He can talk to high schoolers about the dangers of drinking
Yes, you do have to indicate it's sarcasm. He's going to have the best lawyers (didn't he even play with Lawyer Malloy?) and he might get off with a slap on the wrist - and from there, you know NFL teams will go for him if he's still good enough and cheap enough.

This story was like Bonfire of the Vanities. He was driving his Bentley, and hit a poor guy coming off the night shift.

10. That is so sad!
Then this was no accident. He should not be allowed to play professional football anymore and I am sure that deceased man's family will sue his arse off. I don't blame them. :(

12. how do you figure that it wasn't an accident?
are you saying that he ran him down on purpose?

and what does it have to do with his career? if he had been a janitor, would you say that he shouldn't be allowed to clean buildings and empty the trash anymore...?
