AIG Is Not To Blame
They did what they knew they could get away with. The fault lies with the president, the Treasury Department and both partied in Congress for allowing this to occur. Never blame a rattlesnake for doing what rattlenakes do.

1. The people who blame Obama are to blame.
They're the ones who voted for Bush who deregulated in the first place.

4. Except they aren't rattlesnakes. They have frontal lobes
and they're responsible for their behavior in our society.

5. I disagree
The job of all corporate executives is to keep their company healthy and profitable. The problem is that AIG didn't do what they were suppose to do. We might disagree with how the administration deals with the aftermath, but we should never excuse the actions of AIG.

6. Well said...
The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of those at the top of the AIG corporate ladder. They took the low road.

7. AIG is to blame. So are politicians who for 3 decades deregulated financial markets.
So are regulators who turned blind eyes to risky practices that they might have had some power to restrain.

Plenty of blame to go around -- but very little if any of it belongs to Obama.

8. You're a perfect example of why this country is as fucked up as it is.

As suggested above, read the Taibbi piece in Rolling Stone. This colossal disaster has been building for DECADES and there's blame to go all the way around. Obama, for the most part, inherited it.

and jacked up my interest rate from fixed 7.9% to a variable 12.99%. I have a perfect credit record.
