The language CNN reporters/anchors are using about the protests in London
is fucking appalling even by CNN standards. One just referred to the protests as riots. Another called a protestor a bozo. Yet another kept referring to protestors as anarchists. It couldn't be more obvious that they're panting for violence and the opportunity to psint the protestors as violent hooligans.

That said the police seem to be handling these big crowds pretty well.

1. Thank the telecom act of '96 for this controlled and limited media. Remember their
coverage of 600,000 + antiwar protestors in DC in september 2006? Oh wait...they didn't bother to cover that one.

I honestly believe that the media thralls are jealous of Freedom; "Why can't those idiot protestors just sell their minds and hearts like the rest of us?"

2. This woman is a rag. A little while ago she interviewed a nice young guy who was mellow
and having a good time. Afterward she said (paraphrasing), let's see how happy he'll be later on today.

5. Yep, just more 'give us your money and STFU' attitude from the big bosses
at CNN. I wonder what Ted Turner feels about his former co these days?

6. They're playing to the imbecilic American audience....
Can't plant any ideas of democratic action in the heads of the working class in America. They need to use all manner of denigrating language to describe democratic action.

8. the BBC coverage is great...right on the street, in the middle of any action...
their 'sense' of the situation is real, versus distant opinion...

11. I rember in 2003 being stunned by how CNN obsessed over anarchist protesters.
Even interviewing one of them and letting him spew his crazy views. It's obvious that it was about making people think all the protesters were crazies. :puke:

14. That is standard procedure
and right-wing radio is probably going ballistic about it.

I recall that when the RNC protests took place and the cops made pre-emptive arrests on a house full of protesters, falsely claiming that they were storing up bags of urine and feces to throw at Republicans, the reader comment columns on the local papers' websites were full of rants about "dirty, smelly hippies" (It's amazing how many people used that phrase) "throwing bags of feces at the cops" (which never happened). Right wing radio even managed to get its zombies to condemn people who were arrested and roughed up for walking through the area (from the nearest parking area) to attend an unrelated concert on an island in the Mississippi River.

Sometimes I swear Minnesota has been invaded by body snatchers. At least I don't have to listen to right-wing radio, because the Borg will dutifully repeat everything it says on the websites of local papers.
