IPOD-gate
Apparently the Queen already has an IPOD and Obama gave her another one.

How serious do you guys think IPOD-gate is? Do you think it will affect Obama's ability to govern effectively?

Apparently this beginning to become a big story. Thank gawd our wonderful media is on top of this important issue.

Bless their hearts.

1. I thought the problem was that Obama gave her an IPOD and the American press jumped to
the conclusion that she wouldn't know how to use it, and then discovered that she did and now the problem is that she already has one! Boy these people keep writing it until they get what they want I guess.

36. the one she has isn't a video-ipod...the one he gave her is.
so it's not like it's the same thing at all, really.

An iPod for the Queen of England. That's the best we got?

seems to me the UK can fork out better gifts too.

22. I've really little doubt...
that if he had gotten her a more expensive gift the same group of dicks complaining about the Ipod would be complaining about wasteful spending for a gift.

this out with the Palace? Of course they did and the Queen loved it! Do we need any more evidence on how infantile the media is. I don't think so! Good post! We have to keep calling these idiots out!

Or gifted a Wiiware game, she probably would like World of Goo. :)

But seriously, its not like this is a huge gaffe or anything.

39. actually, i was saying partly it in response to something i'd read elsewhere...
There was widespread criticism in Britain and from Anglophiles in the US of Mr Obama's recent present to Mr Brown of a box set of classic American movies on DVDs that were not compatible with British DVD players.

He probably has access to an all-region dvd player. Being a world leader and all.

10. it's not really a story
I just made a thread on it in the other forum earlier because Norah O'Donnell was desperately trying to make it a story, even though the "royal expert" they had on earlier said that the queen has and likes ipods. Two other people made threads at the same time, because we thought it was funny that the network was completely contradicting itself within the hour.

Edited on Wed Apr-01-09 06:17 PM by ddeclue
Obama shopping for Christmas gifts in BestBuy followed around by secret service agents. He stops to play "Guitar Hero"... browses the markdown DVD bin.. looks at the high end home theater gear and decides it's too expensive...looks at digital TV converter boxes and then issues another executive order delaying implementation... gets Michelle a portable DVD player for those long trips on AF1..live from NY It's Saturday Night!

26. Obama needs to step down immediately.
The iPod, with footage of the Queen's visit to the United States, was by request. Or so was quoted a "British official" on the CBS Evening News. It's a big story to that little twatterer Jake Tapper.

Our crack media is all over handbag-gate as well. I'll sleep better this evening.

33. I think this is a serious issue
Namely, the US media's transparent attempt to discredit Obama at every turn.

At some point, it becomes an actual obstruction of government when the the press actually slanders the leader so much over TRIVIAL details and imagined transgressions.

Do I have to remind anyone how Al Gore's campaign was sabotaged?
