Ok it's pretty funny and we all got a laugh out of it, but stop for a second and think of the magnitude of it.
Think about how many people were involved in the idea and the proposal itself. Congressmen. Staffers. Probably some outside consultants. People who have been around for awhile. Lots of big-time Republicans had to know basically what they were going to do and when they were going to release it. They had to set up their little revelation, create that awful graph, prepare their remarks and coordinate any other promotion they had planned for it, such as releasing official statements, sending out constituent emails, going on any shows or doing interviews, both local and national.
And even then, they didn't stop and think about how stupid it would be to unveil a budget plan on April Fool's Day. Or if they did think about it, they still did it anyway. Which is probably worse.
It wasn't going to end well, and a whole group of people thought it was a good idea.
The stupidity of it is profound.
I can still scarcely believe it.
