How do you say 'Go fuck yourself' in Idiotese? :freak:

from ThinkProgress:

Palin echoes Alaska GOP: Sen. Begich should step down to allow new election.

Today, the Alaska Republican Party called for Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) to step down and allow for a new election, in the wake of Attorney General Holder voiding former senator Ted Stevens’s guilty verdict, due to prosecutorial misconduct. This afternoon, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) echoed those calls and pressed for a new election:

“A special election will allow Alaskans to have a real, non-biased, credible process where the most qualified person could win, without the manipulation of the Department of Justice,” the release stated.

“I absolutely agree,” Palin responded in an e-mail to the News-Miner. She said Begich should step down pending a special election.

Though Palin is now enthusiastically jumping back on the Stevens bandwagon, she was more wary when he was first convicted, backing away from an earlier call that he resign and refusing to say whether she would vote for his re-election.

2. Sorry Sarah. Elections are for keeps.
By your logic, the presidential election should be thrown out, because John McCain picked an idiot for a running mate.

12. Are you kidding? This is Harry Reid we're talking about.
He'll probably agree with them and start proceedings to kick Begich out of the Senate.

7. Take it up with Mukasey
And it doesn't mean that Ted is innocent, it means the Holder thought the case was prosecuted badly.

9. Boy, the kind of precedent THAT would set
I guess by that logic Coleman should've had to quit his 2002 campaign or the election results should've been nullified since Paul Wellstone died unexpectedly towards the end of the campaign -giving Coleman an unfair advantage over Mondale who stepped into the race mere days before the election? There's probably a dozen other things, fair or unfair, that tilt elections one way or another. But, in the absence of proof of election fraud, the results ultimately are what they are.
Conviction of Stevens or not, the majority of the citizens of Alaska voted for Begich over Stevens WITH THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THEM AT THE TIME- which is essentially what happens during every election! If Stevens wants to run again in 6 years (doubtful) then that is his constitutional right but it's not like Begich won the election by smearing Stevens with phony charges. WHO was in charge of the DOJ's prosecution of Stevens during that election again?

10. Let's not forget....
He got off on a technicality. The prosecutor either fucked up or blew it purposely by withholding stuff.

He did it... it's on tape. Guy's a sleazeball, and we all know it.

All this bitching from the party that just hates how "criminals get away with their crimes because of technicalities".

13. Yet again there seems to be a breakdown of communication
between Sarah and SarahPAC. Sarah is denying that she said any such thing, while Meg Stapleton is saying that she did.

I looked at Gov Palin’s last press release re Ted Stevens. It says nothing about her asking Begich to step down or even thinking Begich should step down. I read the Fairbanks Newsminer today and it says that in an email sent to the paper that Gov Palin agrees w/ state GOP and Begich should step down.

So I’m confused. I call the gov’s office, press staff and ask for clarification. I’m told that her statement to the newsminer is “political” and has nothing to do with state government. I tell her that now I’m very confused and she tells me to call “Meg”. I said “are you telling me to call Meg Stapleton?” She said “yes”. Huh??? You just can’t make this stuff up.

This is the second time there has been a discrepancy, the other being the invite/disinvite from the Republican speaking engagement in June.
