"I'm certainly not perfect, and expect to be held accountable too."
I'm certainly not perfect, and expect to be held accountable too. I cannot promise to agree with you on every issue. But I do promise to listen to your concerns, take them seriously, and seek to earn your ongoing support to change the country.

Barack Obama, 7/3/08, via Joe Rospars' blog. http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/rospars/gGxsZF/commentary#comments

We're supposed to give the man feedback, good or bad. Some seem to have not gotten the message.

1. Let's give him GOOD feedback, then, and not hysterical over-the-top STUPID feedback.
I'm losing patience with those who, for instance, are flat-out calling him a Republican because he isn't doing every single thing the way THEY want him to.

Is no one else sick of this "takin' my marbles and headin' home" attitude? He's not going to get everything right, no, but he's our best chance of getting us anywhere NEAR close to what we want in the next four years, and we can't take that for granted.

Has he screwed up? Yes, a bit. But he's also done several things that NONE of us can fault him for in the last few months. He simply has not given us grounds for disowning him yet, and that's a fact--and the country as a whole seems to agree.

So fire away with the criticism, but remember--this is a political forum, not the schoolyard.

Don't know where you've been.

3. I don't care. I criticized such behavior when I first got here in 2006...
Edited on Thu Apr-02-09 10:21 PM by Bicoastal
...and I'll continue to criticize as long as I'm here, even if it never stops.

I've had too many reasonable, thoughtful, educational discussions at DU to tolerate the 5% who make it their jobs to drive the other 95% of us insane with their stubborn refusal to ever be anything but confrontational, or refrain from the most hyperbolic of hyperbole.

It's just as much my right as it is theirs.

5. it's your right to not tolerate others?
Seems to me that's on the admins, not you.

6. WTF are you talking about?
Only the Mods can disagree vehemently with opinions expressed by DU posters? WRONG.

That's what I meant when I used the word "tolerate." Must we quibble about semantics?

7. "tolerate" doesn't mean "not disagree vehemently".
As for semantics - words mean things. Deal. You can disagree vehemently all you want, and you can expect the same in return. I've been posting criticism here of conservatism, no matter the party, since 2001, so impress someone else with your 2006 registration.

9. What's your deal? Talk about confrontational, you seem like you want to start shit...
...and I definitely don't care to.

I was NOT trying to impress you with my 2006 registration, thankyouverymuch. I only mentioned it so you'd know I've been here for longer than last year's primary season. But if you want to turn this into a pissing contest, OK, I'm relatively new compared to you. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Interpret "not tolerate" any way you want to, my point still stands. As a non-moderator, I have no power to censor anybody else, you know that, I know that, so once again, we're in agreement. Who cares? What's your point already?

12. No, I don't have a problem with Obama criticism at all...
...providing that it's fair and backed up by fact.

Look, I came here smarting about a hit-and-run poster (not a newbie) who proclaimed that Obama is a Republican and STILL hasn't provided an explanation. Sorry if I unloaded on ya, I guess. I can give you a link if you want. That's not dialogue, it's just being an ass.

I voted for Obama, will always vote (D) and will never shut up about injustice: that makes me a repuke fascist liar non-taxpaying whiner here on DU.

I hate the locksteppers as much as the perennial haters.

13. it looks as if some people here want to twist what Obama said
Edited on Thu Apr-02-09 11:18 PM by HopeOverFear
some, not all.
Of course differing opinions and viewpoints are essential. To me, it's moreso the manner in which people disagree that causes problems. Different personalities clash.
