Has MSNBC muzzled Maddow, Olbermann?
A long time caller to Ed Schulz asked a telling about editorial control on his new show, and was told "this was not the day to ask that question".

David Cay Johnston and liberals talking about whats really taking place in this country, that explains why both Keith and Rachel have to be aware of their limits.

2. Oh please.
Once again, much is being made of nothing. Ed is probably saying it's too EARLY in the process to talk about that stuff, that's all.

Believe it or not, nobody at MSNBC signed an oath to their supposed GE overlords.

3. Right...
A huge conglomerate like GE would never, ever stoop to limiting the expression of its employees.

To even imagine such a thing makes one a prime candidate for a extra heavy duty tinfoil hat or three.

4. Jack Welch
When he ran GE, his news division people thought they were practicing journalism. They sometimes did stories that may have a negative impact on GE some where.

They were true to their principals of journalism and Jack simply fired them for it.

So, every employee has to compromise their principals sometime, or face losing their job. I have no clue how compromised Keith and Rachel are, they seem to do some hard hitting stuff all the time and not get canned for it? Are there stories their superiors have snuffed because it would be bad for GE?

Wouldn't seem like it to me, but, you never know.

5. They are all compromised to a certain extent.
When you work for a company like GE there's no way you could not be compromised to a certain extent. It is what it is, which is why I watch all news shows with a high degree of skepticism.

6. Welch Is Gone...Money Is In
Yes...Welch bragged about how he "flipped" Timmeh by offering him lots of money and fame to carry the water for GE and those who supported the corporation. But it also led to NBC falling behind ABC in the news ratings and put MSNBC in a big hole in cable ratings for years.

While politics play a big part in this network, money plays a bigger part...especially these days. MSNBC is one of the few positives in a company bleeding red ink. Ratings, led by Olbermann and Maddow, are the highest they've enjoyed and just kicked CNN's ass. GE knows good business, and MSNBC's leftward lean has been that.

It used to be when an opening came up, this network would reach right...Michael Weiner, Alan Keyes, Bowtie Boy...but now they go left. Hiring Schultz will be another winner for the network and will open the door for even more Democrats and liberal/progressive voices to be seen and heard.

Just think back of how teevee was 4 years ago...all boooosh-licking, all the time. Things have changed...and for the better.

The Welch influence lives on, but not at MSNBC, but at CNBC.

Cheers...
