NYT: "Budget approved, with no G.O.P. votes."
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/03/us/politics/03budget.html?_r=1&hpw

Obama's budget got passed in both houses without a single Republican vote. That's the good news.

Now, the bad news: One thing they could all agree on, apparently, was giving the ultra-rich a break.

"Among the amendments that won Senate approval was a bipartisan proposalthat would raise the estate tax exemption by $1.5 million, to a total of $5 million, and reduce the tax’s maximum rate by 10 percentage points, to 35 percent."

A $3 million gift to the super rich? Torches and pitchforks time.

Presently, the government gets $30 billion from the estate tax, about 9% of the non-military discretionary budget. We're running up all kinds of debt by bailing out the rich and the mess they've made of our economy, why would we now take a hit like this and reward the top 2 percent while we're at it? Something smells rotten in Denmark.

1. The other good news from this is that

we shouldn't be hearing any more excuses about not 'having enough votes' to pass legislation such as Health-care reform.

We don't need the Repubs anymore! Yay!! Who would have thought this is what everyone worked so hard to achieve.

So, what's next on the agenda?

I'm for Special Prosecutors to investigate torture, lies about war, Halliburton, who is responsible for the corruption on Wall St. that nearly destroyed this country.

Also, for holding Rove et al in contempt of Congress for refusing to answer subpoenas and all the other crimes that have gone un-investigated for so long because, well why? Was it because we needed Repubs to go along? I do remember that being a reason.

That's just a small part of the wish list I have had for nearly eight years, and NOW we can get it all done!! Thanks to all of our hard work getting all those Dems elected!

Feel free to add anything I might have forgotten.

But, why is it taking so long? Isn't this a dream come true? We don't need Repubs anymore!
