...deserves the same fate as the victims." (In reference to today's shooting spree in Binghamton, New York that left at least 13 people dead)

GOD how I loathe these people.

5. This was in reference to today's shooting spree in Binghamton...
...I guess I assumed it'd be obvious.

No worries, it's in my OP now. :hi:

10. Thanks. Do you find the violent fantasies over at FR more disturbing
than the violent fantasies here on DU?

2. But if it's a Mexican, they'll (and Lou Dobbs) use this as an anti-immigration rallying cry.

6. Oh please.
Lou Dobbs would use sunspots as an anti-immigration rallying cry, if he could find some way to blame them on brown people.

Heck, he'd probably use it as an anti-immigration rallying cry even if he couldn't find any.

3. Maybe you could prank pnone call them.
Or write something bad about them on the bathroom wall at school. That would show them.

8. They demand the god-given right to blow away anybody
they find unAmerican (and of course they are the best judges of who that is!)

Too bad they usually just shoot themselves and each other accidentally while drunk.

Now that's what I call True Patriotism!

9. To be fair, I *do* hate legislation created in reaction to single events
This is anything but a single event - just the worst one lately - but the "there oughta be a law" reaction to just about everything is a bit of a pain. Leaving the guns issue aside, it results in a whole hell of a lot more things being outlawed than reason would want. Even with some particularly terrible single incidents, the backlash legislation can get pretty obscene. (I'm looking at you, 9/11.)

I dunno what can be done legislatively about kamikaze shooters like this, though. I wish I did know, and I'd be as open to suggestions as anyone else. At the moment I'm trying to figure out what to make of that reporter who, while this was going on, was broadcasting possible locations where people could be hiding while this was going on.

12. But they hate us for our freedoms -- don't they?
So there more freedoms that are taken away, the less they will hate us. (With thanks to John Oliver from The Daily Show.)

14. Yes it is a clear threat.
But the author will not be the one doing the shooting...it will be one of the nut cases that lap it up the pulls the trigger.
The author will just say he was speaking figuratively

15. Sadly, that's true. Like all the right wing mouthpieces that
constantly spew fear and hatred on TV and radio and 'inspire' other people to act.
