Alaska GOP wants Stevens successor to resign
The Alaska Republican Party is calling for the resignation of Sen. Mark Begich (D) after the Justice Department dropped charges against the incumbent he defeated last fall, Ted Stevens.

Party officials in Anchorage say Begich should resign to allow for a special election so Alaskans can vote for a senator without the improper influence of what they called the "corrupt" Justice Department.

Stevens was the longest-serving Republican in U.S. Senate history but lost to Begich in November by nearly 4,000 votes.

The state GOP says Begich won only because a few thousand Alaskans thought Stevens was guilty of seven felonies. Stevens was charged with failing to disclose free home renovations and other gifts.

How ironic ~~ the "corrupt" justice department...which belonged to BushCo at the time Stevens was indicted.

6. Strange how conservatives care about corrupt justice departments
when it comes to one of their own, but when it comes to the poor and minorities, the corruption is accepted as part of the system (or the corruption is denied).

Republicans are still trying to spin themselves out of the Corrupt Bastards Clubhouse.

and their 'Up is Down' posturing on "illegal" gifts and "lying"
and their willful blindness to convictions of corruption
just comes off as less than clever denials of wrongdoing.

They cannot assert with a straight face, "He did nothing wrong."
They know that line gets you laughed out of the credible universe.

So, why is their spin allowed to dominate the conversation?

12. But Stevens still lost the election.
Just insane. Do they not get that. Tell Stevens to run again in 2012.
