I got a job! And health insurance!

I start Monday and my Blue Cross card just arrived in the mail.

It's a marketing rep position with a base salary and bonus structure. The salary isn't great but it's enough to get by, not to mention the largest anyone is offering these days. Hopefully I'll make enough sales to up my income to at least what it was at my old job.

18. I do know how you felt

My insurance kicked in three days before my accident and $100,000.00 in medical bills. I was sooooo lucky too! Call and get the information on pre-existing conditions. You could go to the doctor's for an allergy attack next week and end up fighting Blue Cross over the entire bill and months of visits. Depending on where you live the times are different and you can ask for medical care in a way that will cover you.

The first few months can be tricky. Research before you just show up at the doctors

Started my "new" job on April Fool's day two months after being "laid off".

Long story short, laid off by company/hired as contractor by company/hired for new position with same company in 2 months.

Maybe things are starting to look up - I start my new job on Monday as well. Are you nervous? I am a little; haven't been out of work as long as you but will have to get used to the routine again.

I'm happy for you. If it wasn't for the VA I wouldn't have any health care at all and I didn't use it for 35 of the years I've been eligible to. I can say that at least the promise they made to us back then, Vietnam era, they for the most part have kept it. I am real happy with my healthcare through the VA just in case anyone is interested it that info.
