I overheard these political unpleasantries while shopping yesterday

Happened to walk past these guys sitting around when one of them asked where "Hussein Obama" was born. Some said Hawaii, others said Kenya. The conversation turned to the legal status of Obama's aunt.

Then one of the guys spoke up and said, "You know, only in America could someone become President whose mother was white trash and whose father was an African who never worked a day in his life. And if I weren't so personally invested in this debate, I'd say that anyone who voted for Obama deserved him, except that I'm in the same boat right along with them, and now I hear Obama's pissing off the leftists as well as the rest of us."

There's so much that's wrong with the above statement that I don't know where to start. The guy's obviously still bitter, of course, but I think enough of us realize that Obama's got a full plate to deal with, thanks to his predecessor. Comments about "white trash" and "lazy Africans" aside, Barack Hussein Obama got where he did not because of his skin color, ethnicity, or some sort of old-boy network. He had to work hard for everything he got, from his wife to the Presidency - nothing got handed to him.

that's what my grandfather used to do.

used to say all kinds of bad things about hispanics, etc...
but his neighbor was (my grandfather is gone, but the neighbor is there) a mexican married to a white woman.
And one of his buddies that worked at the gas station where lots of the old guys used to come and hang out was a different mexican guy.
Both really nice fellows..and after my grandfather died, the next door neighbor helped fix the fence and mow the yard for a few months.
He's even helped out my Mom who's living there now.

I've never been able to reconcile that. I always hated his racists remarks, but he never acted like one.

I wonder what my granddad would have said about Obama. I've wondered that.
My grandmother would have voted for him, she was a good Democrat. Not racist, like much of the rest of the town.

Im with Skittles in this debate: Standing up to the madness is the only way to overcome being dictated by a minority. Everytime you let someone spout these things unchallenged is a defeat of the free society, a defeat of truth, a vitory of rumor, hate and racism.

But then again. I wouldn't wanna spend my day debating Freepers. Most certainly not.

So I'm totally for educating these people, not in camps, but in schools. Because know one who passes the 6th grade should be able to fall for such beliefs. A rational education should prevent these things. At least in a significant majority.

They don't know what they hate most these days. Is it that Obama is black or an A-rab or some other ethnic boogie man. Or is it that they hate seeing us gloat and know that the political winds are blowing in our favor?

So many of these people embody massive amounts of arrogance and ignorance that allows them to never assume responsibility but are quick to blame. It's the "American Way".
