20,000. In a foreign country. To cheer an American president. I'm willing to bet double that number would have turned out to throw rotten tomatoes at the asshole whose name I refuse to utter who was the most recent former squatter in the White House.

I haven't agreed with everything he has done or said (I enthusiastically cast my vote for him and have absolutely NO regrets), but I'll say this: he has taken away the shame of being an American that I felt when traveling overseas during the past 8 years. I no longer feel like I have to apologize for a war criminal and developmentally disabled imbecile being our president.

I saw it live on CSPAN. The video isn't up @ CSPAN yet, but found this on BBC. Look at the crowd and tell me that doesn't give you goosebumps:

And to you asswipe lurking Freepers, I can see how this gets under your skin. You support a bunch of washed-up, old-school, selfish crumudgeons who could NEVER hope to be recieved like this. You can all drown in your crocodile tears, morans!

1. No, I was sleeping when it happened.....
and I have yet to find a "news" channel that has replayed it.

Yet, I hear the commentators on television comment on this speech,
that I have yet to see.

Odd how that works.

4. Yes...it deserves to be seen in its entirety. OMG...we actually have a president that can speechify!

And wait until you hear the music they played as he was coming out on the platform to speak and the crowd of 20,000 was cheering him. It was a very dramatic passage in Beidrich Smetana's "Ma Vlast" If you're not familiar with it, you can hear it at about 2:47 min on this YouTube vid:

5. You mean
Chimpy Fucknuts, right?

I always - every time - find myself tearing up whenever OUR PRESIDENT OBAMA appears, even if he's not saying anything. This reaction always surprises me, and I think it's a hardy combination of pride in OUR PRESIDENT OBAMA and relief at having at long last been delivered from the death grip of Chimpy Fucknuts.

When have 20,000 American citizens turned out to witness a speech by a foreign leader?

I am so damn proud of BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA for bringing dignity, intelligence, wit, grace, compassion, style, and cool to the White House. It's hip to be American again.

And this is the final answer to my European friends who, a couple of years ago, kept asking me: "How could anyone have voted for this man?" as they watched in horror the antics of Chimpy Fucknuts.

We are delivered, and so I cry with happiness.................
