24 Dead in Indonesian Plane Crash

(CNN) -- Twenty-four people were feared dead in western Indonesia after a military training flight crashed into an airport hangar and erupted into a fireball, the air force said.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. Monday local time in the city of Bandung, according to air force First Marshal Bambang Sulistyo.

Rescue crews could not recover bodies because of the fire, he said. Six crew members, one trainer and 17 military skydiving students were feared dead.

The Fokker 27 dropped from the sky, crashing into the hangar. Rain was suspected as the cause, said officials, who were forming a team to investigate.
