Work Crew composed of all college grads... Unbelievable
I had a kitchen fire and got some work done on my house as part of an insurance claim. Everyone from ServiceMaster: painters, dispatcher, and rug cleaners all had college degrees

I had a hotwater heater replaced last year by an MBA in Healthcare. My neighbor, a technical writer, is delivering clothes for a dry cleaners.

WTF is going on in this country? The college grads are bumping out the high school grads and dropouts.

2. People move in and out of job situations. I've done several jobs
after college graduation that did not require a degree. My last job was about as blue-collar unskilled as it gets, in fact--and I liked it.

7. That hasn't been the case for years

In the 1990s and early 2000s college graduates were able to jump right into their fields. Graduates had to beat off recruiters with a stick. I think it was Time magazine that did an article on how the rates of graduates jumping into a career was at the highest level in decades.

It's not happening anymore because of the job market. It hasn't happened in a couple of years now.

3. And look at the retail end

Seniors are taking the jobs students used to get during the summers and vacation breaks.

We're seeing the formation of a very pissed off and underprivileged youth in this country.

5. We are harmonizing downward---Result of Free Trade Policies.
Globalization's goal is to have more equitable pay scale among
all countries.

I am no protectionist so please do not try to lay that on me as
a distraction. I believe in fair trade. Other countries openly
use protectionist practices most often China. Yet we must open
our Market to all comers. Outsourcing used by Business to chase
cheaper labor hurts all workers. The High Tech and Engineering
Jobs are outsourced.

As things are moving we will end up with College Grads performing
current middle class jobs while the Middle Class become the working
poor and the poor--a desperate UNDERCLASS. Been to Mexico lately??

9. Precisely.
I thought when that free trated stuff started, that it was stated plainly that our standard of living would necessarily have to decline. I may be remembering wrong though.

10. I have a good friend
whose 27 year old son graduated from Cornell with a MBA. He's not been able to find the job on Wall Street he was expecting and is now delivering pizza for Papa John's! :-(
