Pittsburgh Cop Killer was a fan of Glenn Beck's
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 07:22 PM by RamboLiberal
Poplawski bought into the SHTF/TEOTWAKI conspiracy theories hook, line and sinker, even posting a link to Stormfront of a YouTube video featuring talk show host Glenn Beck talking about FEMA camps with Congressman Ron Paul. When the city of Pittsburgh got a Homeland Security grant to add surveillance cameras to protect downtown bridges, Poplawski told Stormfronters that it was "ramping up the police state." He said, too, that he gave warnings to grocery store customers he encountered (but only if they were white) to stock up on canned goods and other long-lasting foods.

Here's link to earlier post I made on Beck whining "Liberals are blaming me for the cop killer". http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5403394

1. I'm shocked.
He never exhibited any signs of being a Glen Beck viewer.

2. Where was Poplawski during the actual facist era of the Bush administration?

3. Stockpiling for when the terrorists came and destroyed America because of the liberals.
:sarcasm:

This is just so sad. It is sad that so many people's lives are destroyed by the insanity that some on the right are so hellbent on spreading. Don't agree with Obama? Fine. But make your arguments in a mature fashion. Spreading paranoia and insanity isn't just great for ratings. It's also great for destroying lives.

10. The same question I usually pose
Agreed. That's the same question I pose to those who lost their minds when anyone criticized the Chimp.

All of a sudden, it is "patriotic" to call for an armed overthrow of the Obama Administration.

4. No huge surprise.
Stuff as mad as Beck's is pretty remarkable on major teevee; you used to have to go to shortwave for similar broadcasts. His appeal to the mad and completely alienated and embittered is obvious.

6. Beck speaks like he just escaped from a mental asylum
And his inflammatory speech has the potential to send nutcases like the Pittsburgh cop killer over the edge.

7. IMO, the Pittsburgh cop killer is not mentally ill at all. He knew exactly what he
was doing. (So did his mother)

9. Yep, and maybe this could have been avoided if she hadn't lied to the 911 dispatcher
she said there were no weapons in the house when she called.

Now, she is admitting that she knew her son was stockpiling weapons.

She needs to be brought up on charges for lying to law enforcement, obstructing justice and accessory to a crime.

I hope the DA has the guts to do it.

11. Guess what - she didn't lie - she told the dispatcher he had weapons
I just posted story in LBN. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3819319

Also he purchased the guns legally.

14. Not so.
It was reported that, in fact, Poplawski's mother did report to the 911 dispatcher that there were firearms in the house. For some reason the dispatcher failed to mention this to the police responding to the call. That dispatcher has been placed on leave pending an investigation. Newscaster reported that if the police knew that Poplawski had access to weapons, they would have approached the situation differently.

There's also a lot of important information in the comments section.

15. Well
Beck seems determined to play as a wild-eyed right wing version of Howard Beal. I actually am surprised that he hasn't inspired even more right wing lunatics.
