already convinced him to be Pro-Choice.

One down and many to go...

God, how time flies. I remember when my niece was watching the Teletubbies and was into Pokeman.

She apparently has a crush on a boy in her class who is a Republican, but her mother (my wonderful sis) has had the good sense, already, at the tender age of 11, to teach her how to convince a budding Rush Limbaugh to accept the notion that women have the right to choose.

I'm so shocked that my niece is growing up so fast and that she already had to deal with these issues.

But I think it's so cool that she is this on the ball about the issues that concern her, even though it saddens me a little bit that she has to worry about this at the age of 11.

When I was eleven years old I was obsessed with movies like "Logan's Run," bands like "Kiss," and had a beloved poster of Bo Derek on my wall. I wasn't thinking much about politics at all.

The world has changed so much since I was an adolescent, it's almost hard to fathom.

1. By the way, Bo Derek was a Republican, oddly enough.
Though probably not a Moral Majority type.

4. She still is. She served as Beard for some famous Republicans.
This one, rather notably:

5. Thanks!
Jeez, there's an example of Bo taking one for the team, or rather, not taking one for the team.

2. An eleven year old is just copying his parents.
By the time he hits his teens, whatever the parents are, he won't be.

It happens the other way, too. The "Alex Keaton" effect...

3. I seriously doubt that the eleven year old was a Republican
Most kids are barely aware of politics at that age, and most of the time they simply copy what they hear from their parents.

10. An 11-yr old Democrat is an 11 year old with Democratic parents
An 11 year old Republican is simply an 11 year old with Republican parents.

There is no independent political thought there. When I was 11, I would have converted to Naziism if it netted me a kiss on the lips.
