Ed Shultz show debute on Monday 4/6
I started to watch it, but when it got to the "3 blatherheads" yelling and yammering over each other and spewing the talking points - I flipped the channel

I'll give it another try tonight.

nonetheless - I'll throw a couple of suggestions out

1. Ed: do your editorial at the end, not at the beginning of the show. Use it to summerize the "theme" of that day's show, or comment on a specific story. If you want to monologe at the beginning of the show - present it as an intro to the issues you will be covering - save the angry / outraged man routine for the end

2. Dump the 3 cage poo-flinging monkey format. While it's useful to hear opposing views, it's impossible to hear them say anything close to intelligent when they are all flinging poo at the same time. If you want to present opposing views - do a one-on-one

1. Or.. if he insists on having RW blabbermouths... he should
institute some sort of buzzer to time responses,.. or rules that people can't "talk over" one and other. (All attached to a mic kill switch)

We all know that the RW blowhards are trained in the art of run-on sentences full of non sequiturs.

2. Agreed, radfringe.
I was (and usually am) turned off by the contentious yelling. That's a segment that I'll be bypassing. I said it weeks ago, and I still believe that Lars Larson is not a good choice for meaningful dialog, and Ed should never have him back. Michael Smerkonish (sp?) is the only one of the recent "panelists" that Ed has had (as guest host) who is capable of giving a reasoned response. The other guy, from Fox...forgot his name...was a total waste as well. Bring in people, of whatever persuasion, who have at least a sensitivity and respect for viewpoints other than their own. I'm not interested in their lung capacity, but the power of their ideas.

My main problem with the Op-Ed thing was the wandering camera. That was distracting to me. I'm trying to think about the rant, but the camera gymnastics are almost dizzying.

3. The Cameras Were Driving Me Nuts...
He has a director who just couldn't keep still...the camera guys were moving all around...quick cuts...way too much action that distracted from what Ed was saying.

I agree that he should put his rants at the end. Maybe being the first show he was trying to establish his creds and thus came out at the outset. Let's see if this is how he continues.

About the food fights...that's the bloodsport the networks all but expect these days. And in many cases, viewers as well. Look at how fast someone will post a good smackdown on here. Rachel and Keith have avoided these games by only having one guest on at a time (my preference), but the producers love when you get the fur flying...the "youtube" moments that get viewers...especially with a new show.

It's ovbiously too soon to tell how this show will go...it's still getting its feet. Hopefully the initial bugs and jitters will work out over the next couple weeks. It's not easy to transfer from radio to teevee...a lot more moving parts. I admire the man for what he's accomplished on radio and now taking that same approach to his new show.

4. I see Lars Larson on anything and I flip the channel
The little I did watch, Shultz needs to stop the RWtalking mouths to shut up when others are talking. Especially when it is someone as intelligent as Katrina VH.
