in a suitcase in an irrigation pond that farm workers had drained. Lord, I'm tired of these types of stories. Just wish that more of them would turn out differently.

Poor little girl.

1. So we can forget about news stories of real importance until after the weekend?
Edited on Tue Apr-07-09 08:08 AM by TechBear_Seattle
I understand that this is newsworthy and my heart does go out to her family, but you know that the story will totally dominate every broadcast and cable "news" channel for the next four or five days, to the almost complete exclusion of everything else. The Second Coming could take place, and it would 30 seconds of mention at the end of the broadcast. And you know that Nance Grace will will be talking about nothing except Sandra Cantu until the next cute little white girl vanishes.

4. How inconvenient that this child managed to get herself snatched and
murdered!

Damn, what a callous bit of whining on your part. A child, any color, who meets such an end does not deserve the additional insult of being thought of as an inconvenience to your day.

5. I am not "whining" about the crime
I am whining over the fact that the corporate media will be talking about nothing else for the next several days. Have you no compassion for the family's grief, or do you think hashing this out incessantly on Faux News and Cable Nothing Network for the week will help them deal with their terrible loss?

7. I believe it was the first report of the story.
And I posted it. I'm sure we'll hear more about it as the case unfolds. I can't control the media, but I do know that if this girl were my own or one of my grandchildren, I would be wanting some justice as I would have wanted someone to search for her too.

9. Way to get oversensitive about it
Techbear was just pointing out how the media jizzes all over itself whenever there's a missing/dead white girl, and that's all we're going to hear about for the rest of the week.

3. How sad. What a horrible ending.
And more fodder for Greta Van Cistern and her ilk.

6. I'm sick of this also. Why is there so much mental illness or evil
in the US? Why is it so often taken out on children? Is it this bad everywhere else?

As for the media, I hope they don't ride this story too much. Families have enough grief in dealing with reality without being reminded if they turn on the tv.

8. A tragedy for her family and friends to be sure.
At the very least they can give her a proper burial and try to move on the best they can.

As for reporting this on national news, it is a disgrace and just one more example of how our modern media has become merely a freak show of distraction, deception and irrelevance.

This poor girls death is being shamelessly pimped by cable news to sell diapers or some other such product. Is there anything more grotesque than that?

10. I saw that this morning. It brought me to tears.
I knew the odds weren't good, but I was sure hoping they'd find her alive. That poor, beautiful little girl. :(

11. Stuffed in a suitcase.
A precious human being, tossed like a piece of garbage. Christ, I'm sick of this shit. I'm sick of the human predators and all the self-serving fucks on this planet who have no regard for life.
