How To make Nancy Pelosi’s Office Flip Out
By: brendanscalling Tuesday April 7, 2009 7:43 am 1

Riiiiiing! Riiiiiing!

"Hello, Speaker's office," said the young man who picked up the phone.

...................

"I just got a copy of the leaked Red Cross report http://www.nybooks.com/icrc-report.pdf about the treatment of 14 detainees, and I have to tell you, it's pretty upsetting. My stomach is still queasy from the descriptions of the waterboarding, and suspending people from hooks, and forcing them to stand in their own filth. And this report reminded me of an article I read in the Washington Post back in 2007, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/08/AR2007120801664.html which described a visit Ms. Pelosi made to Guantanamo back in 2002. I think she was accompanied by, oh who was it, Jane Harman, Porter Goss, Senator Rockefeller.

"And what's troubling," I continued, maintaining a pleasant and cheery tone of voice, "is that the Post article made clear that on this visit everyone, except for maybe one lone hold out, not only approved of what was going on, but actually told the CIA to 'do it harder.'

"So what I'd like to know is, was Nancy Pelosi that lone hold out, or did she tell the CIA to do it harder?"

"Sir! Sir! Sirsirsir SIR!" the guy began shouting. "I assure you Nancy Pelosi does not support torture."

.........................

Think about that: I called up, spoke politely, calmly, respectfully, and cheerfully, and the moment I asked about torture and whether the Speaker approved of it, the reaction from the Speaker's office was agitation, shouting, outraged non-denial denials, and accusations that I was the one making a stink. That my friends, is called "projection" and "distraction" and "denial".

1. I can see Smirko looking at her and saying, 'You're in this too, Sweets.'
No wonder impeachment was off the table.

2. great job!!
that's the key - to remain respectful yet offer the evidence (like you did).

I'd love to hear Pelosi's reaction.

3. Outside of the people giving orders, Pelosi is the biggest supporter of torture in our nation's
history.

13. Well...
As critical as I am of Pelosi I have trouble agreeing to that statement. It is absurd, overly broad, and exagerrated to make accusations about her folding the Bushies look over the top and shrill.

The fact is she was complicit in that she and some of the democrats did not speak openly enough against it.

4. Hahaha!
I can't believe you even got a reaction from someone at her office. They are so rude and apathetic everytime I call. They can't wait to put me into voicemail, LOL.

5. She held the Nation down so it could be raped by the Neocon Junta because she approved . . .
. . . apparently.

She is beyond a disaster.

7. Fancy Nancy.
Pelosi parlayed her Congressional Seat onto a Seat at the Rich White Man's Table in 2006.
She has NEVER looked back.

There are other Democratic Senators who KNEW about the Torture, and are guilty of silent support.
Hillary Clinton is one of a handful of senators who attended the special screening of Abu Ghraib films that have never been released to the public.

Goss among former members appointed to ethics office
By Susan Crabtree

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday announced joint appointments to a landmark ethics review board that for the first time will allow private citizens to review allegations against members.

Still, four out of six members of the board for the newly created Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) will be former members of Congress, including former CIA Director Porter Goss (R-Fla.), who will serve as co-chairman.

17. Bush Gang co-opted everyone they couldn't buy outright
except for a few honest upholders of the Constitution.

What does it take? "The only thing left to do, Madam, is to negotiate your price."
