Thanks for posting this article !! Some years ago my future husband played a trick on me and put me on a mailing list as a Reverend so I got these mailings from a Roman Catholic school on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Once I was sent a little photo of two brothers who's mom wasn't able to care for them and I kept it for sometime. Those boys would be in their 20s by now and I've always wondered what happened to them.

17. This school I'm thinking about, is like a regular day school

St. Rose or something like that. Back in the mid 1980s. I've read some real horror stories of those horrid boarding school years. I went to a vergy religous one myself and the first thing they did was cut off my long black hair to a Buster Brown du. My sister had long blonde hair, and snip...off went hers too. Of course, it was nothing compared to what the tribes went through.

14. Well, I had observed that you had a good heart, a good mind and great wisdom,

but had no idea that you were 86 or Native American. All I knew was that seeing your name on a post meant that your words were important to read, and certainly not more noise.
