I have to say I am ignorant on this whole tea party thing
I don't have the time or stomach to tune into Glen Beck soap opera. So I just thought I would inquire here.

What exactly are these people that show up at this teabag party or whatever the fucking thing is, going to do. Are they actually going to throw tea into the lake, river, ocean, what have you. Or are they just going to stand around and look stupid. Cause if they throw tea into an actual body of water, they are fucking dumber than I thought.

1. I envy you.

Remember, DU, when the words "Glen Beck" and "teabagging" weren't linked in our visual cortex?

I miss those days. :(

3. Well Glenn Beck is nuts and hes wrong.
From Wikipedia Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773, after officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonists boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. The incident remains an iconic event of American history, and has often been referenced in other political protests.

Becks 'teabagging' is from a whole different place..the kinky gay S & M scene where the dominant male puts his scrotum in and willing(well mostly willing ) passive or submissive mouth.....

4. I believe that they are going to...
put their nuts in eachother's mouths. Unless, you know, I mixed up with some other sort of party. Maybe that's Beck's problem.

6. Nope, you've hit the nail on the head.
As to their motivations, I really couldn't tell you.

Not that I have been eyewitness..(tho I have seen just about everthin)
I recall John Waters describing it on some HBO thing about his movies.

My mind may not be beautiful, but I have a few braincells in the same orbit, I will not endanger what little I have left by tuning in to Beck again..I made that mistake when he was on CNN I think it was..it was awhile back. The human mind is grand thing..it can some times protect itself from things best forgotten..by doing so.

5. What are they going to do? They are Republicans, they don't plan
that far in advance. Well except maybe for the porta johns. They are trying to pattern their "demonstration" after the Boston Tea Party but they have yet to figure out that they really don't know squat about history.

I wonder when they are going to figure out what being a "tea-bagger" is.

9. So Far the tea partys appear to have been dismal failures
Basically it's a bunch of Republicants getting together for rallies to protest well...who knows. It looks like they're just generally protesting everything the Obama administration does, plans to do, or hints at doing. Republicants are feeling under-represented all of a sudden - no shocker considering their ass kicking in the last two elections - and they're out to show "us" that "they" still around as a viable party.

Another way of looking at it is that it's a whine-fest for Republicants so they can get together, hold a circle-jerk and tell each other how terrible it is to live under a soci-facist-whatever-Beck-says-today regime.

10. Well, they are holding one in my area this week I think.
At the College of William and Mary, I think. I will keep my eyes peeled for coverage. But if I had to guess, I would say they will be standing around looking stupid.
