A state full of latte-sipping, arugula-eating, boundary-pushing libertines...
Love this cartoon. Very apt today.

Today another "latte-sipping" state voted for human rights.

As Howard Dean said recently to the Vermont Democratic party:

“Vote your conscience, not your district. Stand up for doing the right thing; for being a human being. Put human rights above politics — because if you don’t, you’ll regret it for the rest of your political career.”

I heard he got back a day early from Europe to make some contacts.

4. Meanwhile, half the voters in our state are afraid of teh gay.
It's going to be even more embarrassing when the court upholds PropH8 after right after several states have made marriage equality a reality.

24. GC, I'm not going to rehash topically heated threads from not long ago...
but to suggest that by lifting the heavily charged, emotional tags from the skirmish 3-4% should have been an easier push. That and maybe never take any cow for granted till it's actually come home to roost.

26. Not the place to rehash it for certain. It's nice to see that some legislatures are addressing it.

6. I think it's a great cartoon.
I posted the "latte-sipping" ad from 2004 below just for old times sake. It was such a stupid ad to make such an impact. I thought some folks here might have forgotten the context.

8. I don't think the cartoon was meant to be that way?
I think it was a slam on the two guys and their right wing talking points.

I think it was really a dig at them.

I don't get it as humiliating. If so, I am sorry for posting it. Should I ask it be deleted?

I think it is a heavy hit on stupid anti-gay people.

I interpreted it exactly the way you described. Wingnuts use those tired lines on VT, MA and CA all the time -- they must be having a tough time wrapping their brains around Iowa.

10. It is a slam at bigots.
But I will have it deleted if feelings are hurt.

I would never do that.

Perhaps the other poster will weigh in. "Humiliating" to the bigots, perhaps? Or perhaps "humiliating" to California (note the avatar)...

But I do like me some Hollywood -- especially George Clooney! Oh, and I went to UC Berkeley and lived in San Francisco and spent a summer in Cambridge, Mass., and now I live in Portland, so I've covered a lot of the leftist hot spots. :)

Washington state!

However, given what just happened in Iowa, they are apparently leaving my state in the dust!
