Penis pills, debt relief, and tax experts...........
I have not listened to Air America in quite a while. I turn on Stephanie Miller before and the commercials are a joke. I guess the real companies don't take Progressive Talk Radio seriously And that is a shame. But then again, maybe the demographics don't justify the expenditure. And since I refuse to listen to Reich-wing radio, I have no comparison. I would have thought that with all of the love Progressives show for imported products one of those manufacturers would advertise on Air America. Oh well.

1. CNN, MSNBC have the same ads.
Geico, Cash for Gold.com, Enzyte. Y'know, I haven't seen a good old McDonalds or Coke commercial in forever.

4. Yes, the amount of drug commercials is staggering.
I can't wait until warmer weather gets here. No more 'mucus' commercials.

2. I am sick of these commercials.
"Talk to your Doctor..." Assuming you have one, I guess.

And what is it with those Cialis commercials and the bath tubs at the beach, in a field, etc.? How stupid is that?

And that one with the cartoon drawing of the woman with red cheeks. Annoying.

Cash for Gold, which is a big rip-off from what I've heard.

Viagra, trying to make it trendy to pop a pill for an erection, with its hip music and happy, happy, happy people sssoooooo in love, and excited about making love. Yuck. Spare me.

Poor Sally Field is so busy she can't find the time to take a pill once a week. She can only eek out the extra 10 seconds or so once a month to pop her Boniva. (Who knew she was so busy?)

And those pills you take for a skin rash, or something with side effects worse than what they treat! Get rid of that joint pain, but you might die a sudden and unexpected death, or have chronic diarrhea, or lose your hair, or have your teeth fall out. Nice. Give me some Tylenol and a little pain, thank you.

When you see a commercial so often you know what it is after the first second or so, it's not effective any longer because no one watches it.

7. Bright people hate commercials
Folks with brains are annoyed with interruptions every few minutes. That's why public radio and TV is all about progressive ideas even though they are mostly run by jerks.

Drones who follow their leaders in lock step seem to like loud and repetitive ads. They even sing jingles.

I honestly can't listen to Air America. I'm sorry about this because the programming is interesting.

8. (sigh) they can't survive without advertising, you don't get it
and this is why 'Progressives" sometimes just suck, they won't support those who need supporting.

9. These Are The Advertisers That Are Left
First...political radio is always a very hard sell. Be it right or left, many advertisers don't like to be associated with anything controversial. It's been a major problem for AAR and Progressive stations as a combination of a small advertising pool (even in the best of times) and poor signals that have plagued these networks.

Radio is in a massive economic slump. Many of their big advertisers have written off the medium...spending their money on teevee and even the internet. Also radio has so downscaled itself, you have a small sales department that is attempting to sell not one but four or more stations...and almost always go for the station that is the easiest sell. Progressive talk is lucky to get table scraps.

Much of radio sales, especially network, are bulk sales...they hire third parties or agencies to try to fill all that empty space and will take anything that is out there. That's why theres so many of those low class spots...they are buying massive quantities for pennies on the dollar and the networks are glad for it. It's money they don't have to work for.

In short, radio advertising is a clusterfuck. Local businesses that were the lifeblood of the industry have been Wal-marted into oblivion. Add to that, an industry that is suffocating under massive debts and it's amazing anyone is advertising right now.
