Education improvements
Recalling my experience in grades 7-12, PhysEd and ROTC were useless wastes of valuable student time. Students who are inclined to participating in sports will get plenty of physical activity without mandatory participation in Gym/PhysEd. ROTC was particularly wasted time in high school. A year out of high school, I enlisted in the Reg Air Force. Those 2 years of mandatory Rotc in high school were of no benefit at all when I think back about it.

More time should be allowed for English, Math, and Science. If nothing else, extend class hours for those subjects to allow students to begin their homework in class under teacher supervision. More emphasis on academics and less mandatory courses like PhysEd, Shop, Rotc, HomeEc, etc would give students a more solid foundation to build upon. Don't get me wrong. Many military officers come from college Rotc programs for interested students and that's great.
