I had the good fortune to interview Vincent Bugliosi again. His project outlined in his book on prosecuting George W Bush for murder for Iraq related deaths is ongoing. He has some very logical reactions to the movement to prosecute Bush for torture and also some contributions to Pres. Obama's thinking on moving forward.

Vincent Bugliosi: How do you compare 200 cases of torturing Iraqis with the unlawful death, if what I say is correct, of one million Iraqis and 4,200 American soldiers? How do you compare these two? Again, is there something that I don't know? Is there something that I have to be told? How do you compare the two?

Michael Collins: What would you say to the president if you had the opportunity?

Vincent Bugliosi: When he says that he intends to give Bush a free pass simply because whatever crime Bush may have committed was in the past, I would inform him of something he already knows: that all criminal prosecutions, without exception and by definition, have to deal, obviously, with past criminal behavior. Obviously we cannot prosecute someone for a crime that they may commit in the future.

Michael Collins: Since we last spoke, there have been more revelations on the outrages of the Iraq War, all a direct result of the lies Bush and Cheney used to sell the war.. How do those revelations build your case?

Vincent Bugliosi: While all of these revelations are very good, you have to know, Michael, they don't mean anything at all unless we do something about it. The revelations by themselves, by definition, don't go anywhere. And that’s why when people hear these revelations, you know, they’re prompted to ask, “What now? Where do we go from here?”

If these neocon criminals are not held accountable for torture and murder then nobody should be in jail in this country. We put poor people in jail for stealing food for their kids or for selling a bag of pot, but rich people can murder and torture and get a pat on the back and a government pension for their lawlessness.

Kid steals a stereo worth $201 in my state, it's a felony and really hard time. But if you steal
2 trillion like the Wall Streeters or if you kill over a million like those who lied us into war,
then you're just fine with everybody. It's a stale process. I can't wait to see what happens when they start up on the "You've got to sacrifice" line in earnest. No we don't. They do!

Here in "Wonderful" West(BG)Virginia most of the state employees have had their hours cut and their pay raises stopped dead, because the state can't afford to pay them to work a 40 hour week, but governor Joe Manchin can afford to give himself a $55,000.00 a year pay raise.

25. Two wrongs might make a Reich...

If we lie to the world and to our own people, invade other countries under false pretense, torture, murder, and even spy on our own citizens, how then are we any different from the "demons" and "ruthless dictators" who we've fought in the great World Wars? Is "God" REALLY, just on our side? Are we positive of that, beyond a shadow of a doubt?

We are either a "Nation Of Laws" or we are a nation of outlaws. A place where the rich and powerful just kind of make up and or ignore the rules, to suit themselves or their developing situations as they go along? Sounds like a sure fire tried and true recipe for chaos and disaster, with a rapidly, irreversibly, decaying system of justice.(a banana republic) A survival of the fittest and the fattest kind of country. The kind of country we always fought against being or becoming any part of, in the past.

Were all our battles to attain and preserve the lofty ideas of the founders of this "Nation Of Laws," fought for nothing? Was all the blood and sweat and sacrifice to protect our Constitution and our good name, a waste? Do we no longer believe in human rights? What kind of "beacon" is America if we don't hold our own criminals accountable, if their income or political influence exceeds a certain level?

The Cheney/Bush administration might disagree with that -- after all, they prosecuted a war in Iraq based on what Iraq might do in the future (with WMD they didn't even have).

I have referenced The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder and have urged Eric Holder and Jerry Brown in letters to read Bugliosi's book and file charges of murder against Bush and his cabal. More people need to stand up and let them know that justice must be served.
